Meet Santiago Acebras | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Santiago Acebras and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Santiago, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
In a city like Los Angeles, where you can find talent underneath the smallest rock, I’ve learned perhaps the most important lesson of my career: the art of letting go. In an industry as complicated and competitive as the film one, release has been key to not loose sight of my journey and where I wanna get to. Every audition, every casting, every callback is proof of the twister of emotions that you face during this career. And amidst the highs of landing a role and the lows of getting rejected over and over again, I’ve come to understand that sometimes, you grow the most when you let go and accept that we’re not always in control. It’s recognizing that not every project will have your name in its credits, and that’s perfectly fine. There is an astounding amount of decision-makers, casting directors, and producers. It’s not necessarily a reflection of deficiency or a lack of talent; instead, it shows us the multifaceted nature of the industry. Understanding that a rejection doesn’t dim your worth as an artist has been liberating and let’s you be at peace with your work. It’s about detaching from the outcome and embracing the journey, trusting that each audition is getting you closer to your goal. So, I’ve learned to keep on going, persevere, and learn to have no expectations. And with each audition, I grow stronger, more resilient, and keep learning about my craft along the way.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey to where I am today hasn’t been that easy. Arriving in Los Angeles a little over two years ago, with big dreams, I began an amazing journey. Transitioning from Mexico City to the city of Angels was filled with emotions. Each day brought (and still brings) a new challenge, from auditions that ended in rejection to moments of doubt that get you thinking if this is ever gonna work out. But I’m still here, refusing to let setbacks stop me. I really started to do the work, improving my skills, and using every opportunity to learn and grow. I’ve learned lessons that only push me to be a better artist and although they’ve been hard I’ve discovered the resilience in me, the power of perseverance, and the importance of staying true to yourself. And as I continue my path in this super competitive industry, I want everyone to know that my story is just starting, but my journey up till now shows the infinite possibilities that exist for those who dream and decide to pursue those dreams.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely have to take them to a hike! Specifically to the Wisdom tree hike! It has an amazing view of the whole city. If they were looking for some laughs I would suggest to go to “The Groundlings” for a hilarious improv show.
For some vintage vibes I would take my friends for a nice dinner at the Roosevelt Hotel and after that we can go party at Bar Lis.
If they were looking for a relaxing day I’ll tell them to come with me to “Paradise Cove” in Malibu and some delicious lobster rolls at Broad Street Oyster Co.
There’s always something to do in LA
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to my family. They are the ones that helped me and supported me in this crazy journey. They are the reason i’m able to do what I do. And i’ll always be most appreciative
