Meet Sara Alamir

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Alamir and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To begin with, I truly wanted to spark something in my life, which is why I launched this company during the COVID-19 pandemic. One day, I sat down and considered what my age group audience would enjoy on clothes and what may the meaning of the name be. Then, since I was 17 at the time and mood swings are a common known thing for teenagers, I decided to turn it into something positive for my community. Something bright, bubbly, and colorful. We can all have terrible days, but beautiful days also come after, thus I came up with the motto “Frown Less, Smile More” to reflect on this. What should the real brand name be, I wondered then? and looked through other names and options. I loved the word UMORE, which is Italian for “moods,” so I combined it with WEAR to create UMOREWEAR. Then started to make the logo, which was a smiley face mixed with a sad face. I truly wanted to show to people that, despite being in this difficult stage of life, we can all choose to see the bright side of things and try to smile more and frown less.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My life has always been deeply infused with the arts. Painting and drawing have always been my go-to tools for expression. This side hobby has grown into a deep passion that influences my outlook and sparks my creativity in many facets of my life, including my business endeavors. My business and my art are intricately entwined, with each influencing and improving the other. My brand is based on innovation, sincerity, and a dedication to growth. I want everyone to be aware of my story, which is one of determination, passion, and faith that art has the capacity to inspire and change.
I enjoy traveling to different parts of the world for entertainment and inspiration. Another kind of art I really like to do is photography of scenery and natural environments. Even if it is of foods, drinks, people, animals, objects, etc. That is really helpful to me when I am taking pictures of my models for my brand because you need your images to be flawless and visually appealing in order to draw in customers. Vibrant colors, breathtaking backdrop scenery, and possibly even some items around! In general, my passion for taking pictures has increased with time; I especially enjoy taking artistic photos of my friends or myself.
Finding the time and energy to pursue my work in the midst of a busy schedule was one of the major problems I encountered. I overcome this by reminding myself of the happiness and contentment that art gives me and by incorporating creativity, even in tiny ways, into my everyday routine. Self-doubt was another obstacle, but I was able to get over it by emphasizing progress above perfection and by asking reliable peers for helpful criticism.
Throughout my journey, I’ve learned several key lessons:
Consistency: Regular practice and dedication are crucial for growth, both in art and in business.
Resilience: Challenges are inevitable, but resilience and a positive mindset can help overcome them.
Authenticity: Staying true to my vision and values has been essential in creating meaningful work and building a genuine brand.
Adaptability: Being open to new ideas and willing to adapt has allowed me to evolve and improve continuously.
To conclude, I want the world to know that creativity is a necessary component of art, especially when building a brand from scratch by one person. It takes imagination and an eye for art to design artwork that is different and adored by many.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Going to the beach and shopping is my favorite thing to do, so if my closest friend were to come visit California for the week, I would take her around the various beaches and malls we have here. In addition to a delightful coffee shop, since I enjoy exploring different cafes to feed my addiction to coffee whenever I have free time. This is how a weeklong journey with me would unfold:
Day 1- Take a walk on the world’s edge at Laguna Beach, where you can take in the breathtaking views of the ocean and sky while sipping coffee from Moongoat, which has the best coffee flavors ever! Afterward, take the bus, which takes you all over Laguna for free, where you can take in the scenery while feeling comfortable. For lunch, I highly recommend the Chicken Curry Sandwich at Urth its my favorite, and then stay back to enjoy the sunset on the sand and waters while enjoying gelato from Gelato Paradiso!
Day 2- Thrifting day in Costa Mesa because I am a huge thrifting fan, I love to thrift anywhere I find a good thrift store. We would go to the Anti-lab Mall that has two famous thrift stores, grab coffee from Nook that has the best Spanish lattes ever, then start our shopping. After that, we have pizza from the pizzeria that is located next to the secondhand shop. Later, to continue our shopping day, head over to South Coast Plaza since it’s practically next door.
Day 3- Morning hike in San Clemente that overviews the whole beach and land San Clemente offers, while enjoying our coffee from Zebra Cafe located in the downtown of San Clemente, Spanish latte once again. After that, strolling around the pier and taking in the sea breeze. Later, picking up some Chick-fil-A, enjoying a picnic on the beach, and strolling around the outlet stores at night to take advantage of all the amazing deals.
Day 4- LA day, starting with Community Goods, the best matcha place to exist if your a matcha lover! Then we head to melrose road to enjoy our matcha’s and walk around the thrift stores because LA is known for their thrift stores. My 3 top favorite malls in LA would be The Grove, The Americana, and Westfield Century City, so we would check one of those malls out. After visiting one of those malls, we would go to Ggiata, a well-known sandwich shop, for dinner they have the best chicken Caesar salad wrap sandwiches and then take in the sights of the city as we drove home.
Day 5- Go to Newport Lido Village, and have some nice breakfast at Zinque, some avocado toast with a coffee from Herst because they are also known for their Spanish lattes and take many cute pics because my friends and I enjoy taking pictures. After taking a stroll through the village, visit Newport’s downtown to take advantage of the sunny, outside weather. Spread a picnic mat on the sand and spend a carefree day of painting and snacking on fruits while listening to some peaceful music. Grab an acai bowl later towards the day and maybe even go for a little swim in the ocean water because I love swimming at the beach!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my family first and foremost from the bottom of my heart. Their unwavering encouragement and faith in me have served as the cornerstones on which my life has been constructed. Every member of my family has contributed significantly to the person I am today by offering not only emotional support but also priceless insight and life lessons. Especially my mom. I look up to her a lot and see all the hard work and efforts she puts in to reveal her success in this world. She is truly the meaning of if you work hard enough, it will pay off at the end. No hard work is ever lost, and no hard work is ever easy to obtain. Her constant commitment and persistent efforts have served as a constant source of motivation. She has always handled managing home chores and juggling numerous jobs with grace and determination. Another huge impact in my life has been my dad. His perseverance, courage, and insight have been essential to me on this road. He has always supported me through the ups and downs of life by offering advice and encouragement. His devotion to hard work and perseverance has taught me the value of these qualities.
Mom and Dad, you are appreciated for all of your efforts and hard work. My accomplishments have been driven by your love and support. I appreciate you guys being my inspirations, my rocks, and my role models. Your tales of strength and dedication inspires me to pursue greatness and to never waver from the principles you’ve instilled in me.
