Meet Sara Amirkhani | Artist and Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Amirkhani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success as an artist has been my persistence in exploring and refining my own visual language. Coming from a painting background and expanding into photography and design, I’ve consistently sought to stay true to my artistic vision while being open to growth and experimentation. My work is deeply influenced by cinematic aesthetics and personal identity, and I think my ability to translate those internal narratives into compelling visual forms, no matter the medium, has helped me connect with others and create meaningful work. Staying committed to my practice, even in uncertain or challenging moments, has also been key to my progress.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art practice centers around small-scale, three-dimensional still-life collage compositions that I carefully create and then photograph. These scenes are deeply influenced by the visual language of classic cinema, particularly the handcrafted authenticity and dramatic lighting of Old Hollywood films. What sets my work apart is the way I combine storytelling, painting, photography, and sculpture into single-frame narratives that blur the line between reality and artifice.
I’m most proud of the way my work captures quiet emotion through objects and space. It’s exciting to see how these small, intimate constructions can evoke big feelings and spark personal connections with viewers.
Getting to where I am today professionally hasn’t been easy. There have been challenges along the way, but I’ve learned to stay resilient, to keep creating, and to trust that my unique vision has value.
I want the world to know that when I’m building a set from paper, my goal is to create visual worlds that invite people to pause, wonder, and feel. My work celebrates the poetry of light, the emotional power of objects, and the timeless influence of cinema.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to a place that deeply inspires me as an artist: Griffith Observatory.
There’s something cinematic and timeless about this place. The architecture, the view, the quiet hum of the city below. Especially at sunset, when the sky shifts through shades of pink, gold, and violet, the atmosphere becomes almost surreal. The way the light wraps around the landscape reminds me of the dramatic lighting in the old Hollywood films I love. It’s a place that invites you to pause, observe, and imagine, which for me, is at the very heart of being an artist.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Without a doubt, I dedicate my shoutout to my parents. They encouraged my creativity from a very young age, even when the path wasn’t clear or conventional, and always made me feel that my voice mattered.
