We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Sangfelt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sara, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’m a typical example of a creative soul, right-brain thinker haha… I always had a dream to pursue a career in the music world, and then I finally decided to commit to my dreams! Music has always been something very important to me, it’s what I live for and what I do best.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My drive, patience, and dedication has been very important and has lead me to a career in music! You gotta work really hard in this business and not let the bumps in the road stop you. The bumps are there to teach you valuable lessons, so you can learn from them and continue to grow!
In 2013 I was handpicked to audition for the TV program “Swedish Idol” (the Swedish version of American Idol) and became one of the finalists, this kickstarted my career as a singer, songwriter, and artist. It was an experience I learned a lot from.
During my years in the music business, I’ve had the opportunity to work with many talented musicians, playing at major festivals like “Live at Heart”, in Sweden, “The White Nights Festival” in St. Petersburg, performing with rock legends “Scorpions”, and playing with Prince band “The New Power Generation” amongst others. Although live performances have been a huge part of my artist career, I’ve also spent MANY hours in the studio creating new songs for myself, and for others while also releasing music together with DJ icons “Mike Williams”, “Justin Mylo”, “DubDogz” and many many more.
I’m honored that I get to be in the studio working on new songs every day and I look forward to seeing what the future has to bring 🙂
Today I work with fellow singers, songwriters, and producers from all over the world as an independent artist specializing in creating toplines (vocal melodies and lyrics) and recording vocals; creating unique catchy songs, and releasing music under my name “Sara Sangfelt” and my alias “Scarlett”.
My collaborators typically describe me as an expert singer with a unique raspy, smokey voice and a talent for writing raw and deep heartfelt stories.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This city has so much to offer!! There are lots of great locations to go see wonderful musicians play: The Troubadour, Hotel Café, The Mint and many other locations around LA. 71 Above has the best view and food and I also love visiting the Castaway in Burbank, Miceli’s in Studio City/Hollywood and The Perch in Downtown. Going to the beach, Griffith Observatory, hiking Runyon Canyon and the San Vincente mountains is something I love to do on the weekends. Can’t wait to keep exploring beautiful Los Angeles!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First of all, I want to give my parents a huge shoutout, they’ve always been my biggest supporters and have pushed me too work hard for what I believe in. Without them, I don’t think I would have pursued my career as a singer and songwriter. And I also want to thank my mentor Mauricio Contreras who gave me the tools to work with music when I first started out at the age of 12.
Another major shoutout to my producer and vocal engineer Oscar Linnander for working with me on so many amazing projects. Shoutout to MediaHorse, GLOBALIST LA, AnK Entertainment, Starlab, and all my collaborators out there who I’ve had the opportunity to work and continue to grow with.
