We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, Let’s talk about principles and values – what matters to you most?

There are many values that matter to me such as God, family, discipline, consistency, optimism, etc. but the principle that is most important to me is integrity. Staying true to myself is one of the best things I’ve done along my journey. As a model, I am exposed to all different types of people, habits, and environments. It’s easy to stray away from your core morals and values if you let it. With social media being a big part of the industry as well, you are held to a standard made by society and if you let it, it well pollute your mind and ultimately radiate in all areas of your life. That’s why it’s vital that I rise above what society tells me to do or how to be. Being myself makes me unique in a place where everyone tries to be the same. I am in the world but I am not of the world, and that’s just me being real with myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In a world where everyone is striving to be a model, something that sets me apart from others is my energy. Yes, my energy because it’s radiates outward from within. It shows in all my work, on and off the camera. Thankfully, my charisma and creativity comes naturally. I’ve come a long way in the modeling industry but it wasn’t easy. Struggling with expenses, trying to find the right opportunities, etc. but I was able to overcome these difficulties by hustling and keeping my faith that one day, my hard work will pay off. I learned that networking is key in the industry. Sometimes, it is simply about who you know. I also learned that you do not have to beg, seek, or get desperate because the right opportunities will find you. I want the world to know that despite your upbringing, or what happened to you in the past, or even the struggles you are facing now, you have a purpose in this life and no one can stop that but YOU! My brand is all about authenticity and being true to yourself. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from what you’re meant to do, not even your own mind.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Although L.A. is a place to be as a model, I am from Michigan where nature is your best friend so I would definitely have to take my people to the beach. One of my favorite places to eat is The Pier House right off Marina del Ray. Not only is it right off the shore of Venice Beach but they also have delicious salmon.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been shown a lot of love throughout my modeling journey but I have to give credit to my photographer in New York, Brandon Parker. He has got me booked for lots of my major projects like working on a music video with Dani Leigh, doing charity work with Def Jam records, getting me published in Bella magazine, and winning 3rd place in a beauty contest hosted by Nigel Barker. Whenever I chat with him, he has nothing but encouraging words and empowers me to reach my best potential. Another person I’d like to shout out is Charles Kennedy Jr., a photographer/director I’ve worked with for two years now. He helps me exercise my creative ability in its entirety. He also supports my acting career as well and shows up for me every chance he gets. These are very talented and overall amazing people to work with.
