Meet Sarah Memmer | Marketing & PR Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Memmer and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I didn’t have some grand master plan. I moved to LA in 2018 with no job lined up—just a gut feeling that I needed to be here. Within two weeks, I landed my first social media management client, and that was the beginning of everything.
Later, I pivoted into PR, becoming the Marketing Director of a firm. Very quickly, I realized something no one wanted to admit: traditional PR is dead. The firm would promise clients these massive national features but in reality? They could barely get them on a tiny local news station or a podcast no one had ever heard of. Cold pitching just doesn’t work anymore.
So, I left. I took my knowledge in social media, marketing, and PR, and built a new formula—one that actually drives sales, builds a real community, and lands national press without chasing journalists. All from organic social media content. Instead of begging for media attention, I figured out how to make the media come to my clients. And that’s what I’ve been doing ever since.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is all about making people obsessed with you and your brand. I help founders build disruptive, profitable personal brands by blending social media, marketing, and PR in a way that actually works—without begging for attention.
What sets me apart? I’ve cracked the code on landing national press, building a massive community, and driving sales without cold pitching or outdated PR tactics. I created The Gravity Formula, which pulls soulmate clients, leads, and even journalists into your orbit—so instead of chasing opportunities, they come to you. I’ve helped clients go from being completely unknown to landing features in major media outlets like NYT and People Magazine, all from their organic content.
But getting here wasn’t easy. I started out managing social media, then pivoted into PR, only to realize traditional PR is completely broken. The industry keeps selling this dream of national media coverage but can barely deliver a local news spot. So, I left, built my own approach, and proved that when you blend social-first marketing with PR, you don’t just get press—you get sales, influence, and real industry authority.
Along the way, I’ve learned that playing it safe is the fastest way to stay invisible. People buy from people, not businesses. If your brand isn’t making people feel something—if you’re not standing for something—you’re forgettable. And in the digital landscape we live in, forgettable doesn’t sell.
My business isn’t about fitting into the traditional PR or marketing mold. It’s about breaking it completely. I teach people how to create a brand universe so powerful that their audience, clients, and even the media can’t look away. Because when you stop trying to please everyone and start owning your space, everything changes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Alright, if my best friend is visiting LA, we’re doing it right. First things first, I’m a huge live music fan. I’ve been to around 400 concerts in my life, so catching a show is non-negotiable. My favorite spots? The Greek, The Wiltern, The Hollywood Palladium, or The United Theater. Intimate venues with incredible vibes. But if we’re going big, The Forum or Crypto will do.
Next up: a hike. You have to get the classic LA views—either a westside hike with ocean views or Griffith for those iconic shots of the Hollywood sign and DTLA.
Whenever I have friends in town, I always take them up to Santa Barbara or down to Orange County. In SB, we’re hitting wineries, SYR, or the Rosewood Miramar for that bougie-but-worth-it experience. In OC, it’s all about the beaches. I love Table Rock in Laguna!
Food-wise, LA has some of the best Asian food, so we’re going for KBBQ. Probably Park’s BBQ or KTeam BBQ. And while everyone associates LA with In-N-Out, I’m taking them to The Window in Venice. No contest.
For a proper unwind, it’s either Olympic Spa for a classic LA spa day or, if we’re going all out, Spa Relais at Westlake Village Inn.
And, of course, no trip to LA is complete without Malibu. We’re hitting the Country Mart and grabbing lunch at Taverna Tony.
One of the best things about LA—especially as a girl from a small town in the Midwest—is that you can be in three completely different landscapes in a single day: the beach, the mountains, and the city. So the goal is always to give people a taste of all of it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It might be a cliché, but a huge part of this goes to my parents. From a very young age, they instilled this mindset in me that if I wanted something, I could make it happen—no excuses, no taking “no” for an answer. It didn’t matter if it was trying a new hobby as a kid (and quitting if I hated it) or chasing a big goal they knew nothing about. They never doubted me. Instead, they pushed me, supported me, and did whatever they could to help me get there.
Because of that, I grew up with this deep-rooted independence and self-belief. Even when people around me doubted me, it never really shook me—because, in my mind, why wouldn’t it work? Obviously, I’m human, so there are moments when that confidence wavers, but I always come back to center. And that’s 100% because of them.
