We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Timmerman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I have always wanted to own my own business. I love creating and envisioning new things and this is the ultimate culmination of those two passions.

When I was 20 my mum offered me a party of a ticket to Paris – and I took the ticket to Paris. On this trip I found an incredible store called Collette which inspired me to start my own store in Brisbane. There was no shop leases available so I went online.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Beginning Boutique designs the perfect outfits to wear to all of your special moments. We consider every day an opportunity for a up moment and our outfits match this energy.

16 years in – the journey has not been easy but it has been an incredible experience to learn and challenge myself to do better.

The lessons I have learnt are to persist and ensure the vision is never lost – you can only build what you see and if you loose sight of that everyone gets a bit lost!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would drive out to San Diego and go to our store for the first point! We would grab breakfast from Palmys at Pacific Beach and then have dinner at Marisi at La Jolla.

We would hit a few balls at the La Jolla tennis club and then drive back to LA the next day.

The shoutout goes to my husband Maarten. The calmest, kindest man who has trusted me with creating something that didnt exist. Maarten always encouraged me to keep going and gave me the space and trust to let the future unfold and take the time it needed to.
