Meet Sayde Jabra | Professional Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sayde Jabra and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sayde, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I believe that starting a career should be based on a vision; an objective; a target. After that comes the commitment and hard work. Throughout the journey i faced lots of bumpy roads, lots of struggles, lots of doubts and lack of confidence but I didn’t give up on myself, on accepting the fact that to be able to climb the mountain you should walk through the valley. Consistency was the key to my success!
Keep on learning and following the trend and be capable of adapting to the change of the market.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In 2010, I decided to quit my bank career and pursue into a passion i never knew i had; photography. I wanted, instead of having a routine job, explore the world and go on an adventure.
Photography was the best way to express my journey through my camera.
I went on many road trips with my camera as a companion and i practiced using its settings and features while capturing unforgettable moments.
I found Happiness!
This passion started to turn into a profession when I was approached by designers then magazines then commercial ads…I never stopped learning. I never stopped working. I never stopped grabbing new opportunities. Nothing comes easily. You should thrive for it.

My advice to every amateur is Practice Practice Practice…
You will find your direction, what you like, what attracts you more with time.
Just dont give up!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve been in Montreal for only a year…too early to take you on a tour (hehe)
If my Best Friend would visit, I would start my day in a coffee shop with a big cup of Americano and a tasty bagel with Philadelphia 🙂 Then we would go enjoy a nice outdoor hike at Mont Royal Park and admire a wide variety of plants and birds. Lunch will definitely be at the Old Port, a historic district filled with cultural landmarks, museums, boutiques, sidewalk cafes and restaurants. I would say a zip-line adventure after that 😀 Right before sunset we jump on a sight seeing cruise to discover the beautiful river landscapes and fascinating history of Montreal along the St. Lawrence River.
And end the day watching a hockey game live on stage!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It all started with a push from my husband who always encouraged me to follow my dream and grow my passion. Friends and Family came along the way when they started seeing my happiness and excitement on set. They couldn’t believe i shifted from a banking career to photography from one day to another! My mentor was my intuition; I have always followed my gut feeling. I do trust the universe and Yes everything has a timing in life…
