We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Rocco and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scott, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
For writing songs, I get inspired by books, movies, and everyday life. There’s usually a monologue in a film or central theme of a novel that really sparks interest for me to create. Most of the time though, I draw inspiration from real life moments of happiness, loss, doubt, and love. As private as I want to be sometimes, you have to be willing to share your personal experiences for people to truly connect with you. When someone can relate to what you’re singing about, what you’re feeling, it gives me joy knowing that the music can help amplify their happiness or heal them. I also love seeing people pursue their passion. That is always very inspiring to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My first love is music, but I do enjoy being a hyphenate. I think that is what sets me apart from others. My creation process is endless in the sense that, aside from music, I enjoy writing screenplays, acting in projects, and producing. I tend to go with the flow and find balance day to day with all of it. Pursuing the arts professionally is never an easy process. There are plenty of ups and downs in the business due to rejection, but I always felt, as long as you’re creating something every day, you always win personally. And to me, that’s more important than trying to please anyone outside of you — the artist. Always honor your integrity and be true to yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Great question! My friends and I love to eat at Aroma Cafe in Studio City, Prince Street Pizza in West Hollywood, and Bobs Diner in Burbank. You can’t go wrong with any of those. I’m working up an appetite right now just typing this so I think I’ll hit one up soon! I enjoy taking hikes at Runyon Canyon or any hiking spot in LA. The views of the city from the top are just breathtaking. I recently drove my best friends up and down Pacific Coast Highway which is amazing. All the beaches especially Malibu, Santa Monica, and Venice are a must see as are the piers. I think people should also check out Griffith Observatory for some amazing views, Breakroom 86 for some cool night life, and definitely head to “The Mint, Whisky A Go Go, and Viper Room” for some really rockin’ shows!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give the biggest shoutout to my family and close friends who always had my back through thick and thin. The greatest influence in my life are my parents; especially my father in heaven who always loved and believed in me. I also want to thank my older brothers for their guidance and support. I love my family and friends more than anything. They are my inspiration and the reason I continue on this amazing artistic journey. I am truly grateful to every one of them.
