We had the good fortune of connecting with Richard Turrentine and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Richard, how does your business help the community?
Our unique socially-focused streaming experience allows streamers to stream and connect with their favorite indie filmmakers and indie creators to showcase their work. By doing this, we can create a space for emerging filmmakers to increase visibility and online presence on their projects, earn money for their projects, connect with other filmmakers, and more! This and more will allow indie filmmakers to have a more sustainable career within the entertainment business. It also will give them a more streamlined distribution approach to their audiences and own it! Additionally, streamers have access to a plethora of premium content for every genre, demographic, lifestyle, and personality.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Our innovative technology at Screen Indie is different from any other streaming provider. We pride ourselves in taking the extra step into ensuring our partnered filmmakers have the tools needed to succeed within the entertainment industry. In addition, we’ve built a community by allowing streamers to connect and support their favorite filmmakers. Other streaming services just stream, but they’re other elements that could be implemented to help creators. We’ve built it!

I’m an indie filmmaker, and from my experience and listening to my colleagues, I felt there should be a platform that connects indie filmmakers to their audiences in a more streamlined approach.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to grab tacos at Leos taco truck, then head out to Pointe Dume to take in the sights of the ocean. I’d also take them to Leimert Park to enjoy good music, food, and beautiful black culture.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to thank my Screen Indie team Jeremy Shank (COO), Richard Hullum (CFO), Zach (Full-Stack Developer), Alexandra Kay (Designer), William Jackson, and Ihor for being so resilient throughout the process of designing and building a platform to help indie filmmakers. It has not been easy, but the goal to help has moved us to continue. I’d also like to thank all my close friends and faithful supporters of the Screen Indie movement.
