Meet Sean Petersen | Founder of Golf Trip Junkie – customized golf vacations

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Petersen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success is determination, never giving up despite the many challenges I’ve encountered throughout my journey. The commitment to achieve my goals, regardless of the difficulties I’ve faced, is perhaps the main factor behind the success of my brand as it is today.

Every time I’ve come across a challenge, I kept pushing forward and tried to have a positive outlook on my project. However, I have to mention that I’ve also received a lot of support from my loved ones, which greatly helped me overcome any obstacle and keep an optimistic perspective.

What should our readers know about your business?
Anyone can book a golf vacation through Golf Trip Junkie, regardless of their skill level, as I believe playing should be about fun and excitement, not necessarily about who is best and who wins. We also offer customized golf vacations, so if there’s a particular course you’d like to play, we can easily include it in your golf vacation package. I think what sets Golf Trip Junkie apart from other businesses offering golf vacation packages is that we really value our customers and strive to make their experience truly memorable. We listen to each of our customers and consider everything they would like to include in their package, as we only want happy customers. Moreover, we are keen on exceeding their expectations with our personal touch.
It certainly was challenging to get to where I am today. However, with perseverance and determination and the support of my loved ones, I’m doing great now, and I’m glad that I can make other people happy by offering the best golf vacation packages I can think of. The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is that simplicity is nearly always the key. You may wonder how that is since I’m providing customized golf vacations in which a lot of organization goes, but the truth is that people are looking for simplicity when booking a vacation. The story of Golf Trip Junkie started in 2004 and emerged from trying to find a way to make a living while also being able to enjoy my two passions – golf and traveling.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming. I would first take my friend to the Black Tooth Brewing Company, a brewery that I’m very fond of, where you can taste an incredible array of craft beer. Afterward, I would take them to the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens for a relaxing and tranquil afternoon. This amazing place boasts nine acres of perennial and annual landscapes and a diverse collection of specialty exhibits, a vegetable garden, and the Grand Conservatory. You can admire plenty of flowers and vegetation at the gardens, from xeriscape and cacti to wetland and cottage. Finally, I would take my friend in the evening to Wyoming’s Rib & Chop House to relish a delicious, tantalizing meal accompanied by a glass of wine.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my family, especially my father, for supporting my endeavors to create Golf Trip Junkie and for always encouraging me to keep up the good work. Also, shoutout to my golf mentor, Henry, for being with me from the beginning and helping me both master the game and build Golf Trip Junkie as we know it today.

The book On Learning Golf by Percy Boomer, although quite old, was also very useful to me in perfecting my swing when Henry wasn’t there to show me how. Furthermore, the people at the Wildfire Golf Club in Phoenix, Arizona, which I’ve been a member of since 2007, were of tremendous help, as they kept me up to date with the latest news and trends so I could always be a step ahead when it comes to my business.
