We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Wing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
This answers some of the others I feel, because a few years back I started just moving toward happiness and it seemed to line up a lot of other things. Being deeply creative makes me happy. It never fails. An empty page, a blank canvas, a new Logic Pro music project with no data… these things all excite me so much. I’ve found over the years making from scratch is my greatest joy. Something from nothing. Plant a seed and watch what tree it grows into. It’s very thrilling and brings me my greatest happiness. Then dogs are second. Then cats.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been an actor for years but a few years back developed a love for writing. My proudest accomplishment is probably a short film I wrote and star in called I Know Jake Gyllenhaal is Going to Fuck My Girlfriend. I’m proud because it turned out very close to what I set out to do and is a great execution of my sensability. I was a voice on a show that came out recently on MAX called Fired on Mars. I think it’s so special and hope more people watch it. The guys who made that Let me compose the music for another project of theirs called Wet City and I am very proud of how that turned out. It was my closest to a professional music gig I’ve had. I am trying to get several films I’ve written made but in the mean time I’ve treated my social media apps as open mic for smaller scale writing, so I’ll post mini sketches there. This was a product of the pandemic which was obviously a terrible thing but philosophically a good thing for me. I started making just cause it was fun, not over thinking things, and I decided to never turn back. Never do things that didn’t feel fun or joyful again. So I’ve had a ball making a lot of silly sketches, It’s so cool that we have the means to do that now, potentially on a large scale if they catch fire. One of my sketches garnered over 100 million views!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’d force them to visit movie homes. We could start by jump roping on the law in front of the Nightmare on Elm Street house. Then we could ride our bikes up to the E.T. house. Then I’d force them to re-enact the ending “where we’re going we don’t need roads” line in front of the Back to the Future house. Then we could finish with a good cry in front of Peewee’s house from Peewee’s Big Adventure.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Mom! Too cliche? Well too bad! She was a dancer her whole life and is the funniest person I know. So she gave me a love for the grace and beauty of the art of dance as well as the love of a good fart joke. Everything I do is intended to be a combination of those two elements.
