We had the good fortune of connecting with Sebastian Moya and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sebastian, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It was a certain impulse that could no longer be ignored. I enjoy talking to people about knowing from a young age that they knew there was a creative calling in them. Most of my creative friends have a memory from a young age that they can call upon. For years I tried to suppress or bargain with this creative calling. It became futile to ignore how much it was paining me not to do what I love. If I could give advice to anyone interested in an artistic career, I would say the quicker you accept your calling the better. It gives you more time to figure out how you are going to make it work, instead of stressing out about “will I, won’t I.” Just start! Ignoring the urge to do it just makes it harder on you in the long run.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think one of the more difficult parts of choosing to pursue any artistic career is deciding that you want to pursue an artistic career. Committing to the bit, as I like to say. I quit my job in the business world to go better dive into my art. It’s not terribly uncommon to hear about, but when you are doing it yourself it’s terrifying. My word of advice is that if that itch isn’t going anywhere no matter what else you do, might as well dive into it. The sooner you fully accept who you are and what your passions are, the sooner you can begin living your life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have a fascination with the old LA. There are a lot of relics hidden in plain sight that I like to take people to. The Rainbow is a must for friends of mine that love music. The Formosa Cafe has excellent food and cocktails (they make whiskey sours the old fashioned way. The Burgundy Room has been around since 1919 and is one of my favorite dives. These are my types of places to take people to.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to the people who have supported me along the way to getting things off of the ground. Feeling the support of my friends and family is why I felt that I could go forward pursuing my dream and is an under rated part of the choice. Thank you to my wonderful mother, brother, cousins, and my uncle. I have been extremely fortunate to have many friends back me in anything I do. I love y’all so much.

My other shoutouts would have to go to jacaranda trees, Emily Dickinson, the 101, Redondo Beach, Joni Mitchell, the seasons, al pastor tacos, Hollywood Cemetery Forever, Thai food, and my old car Celia. Somehow y’all came together to make BlueTo. Thank you
