Meet Sepi Bahadori | Childrenswear Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sepi Bahadori and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sepi, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factors behind the success of my brand are focus, passion and surrounding myself with people who believe in me and my dreams.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
One of my all time favorite quotes is: If you can’t stop thinking about it, don’t stop working for it. Of course, the road is never easy. There are good days, bad days and days that you aren’t feeling motivated. That’s why passion is so important. Passion will help you get through the rough days. Without passion for your craft, you might easily give up or have a difficult time getting through it. I can truly say that I love what I do. But guess what? I didn’t always love what I did. I graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering and at the age of 21 I was interning for the county transportation department. The work was just not my passion. But how could I take that leap? And where do I leap to? I didn’t know and didn’t have the courage to try until my first child was born 10 years later. I always had a creative side – my mother’s a pianist and my father an artist – but I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do. I began making tutus and accessories for my baby girl and little by little my business grew. Finally I had found my passion. Something that excites me every morning when I wake up.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’re based in Newport Beach, California and there is always fun to be had along Pacific Coast Highway. My favorite city since I was a little kid is Laguna Beach. I would definitely take my best friend to eat, stroll and gallery hop in Laguna. Lido Marina Village is also a cute place to have brunch, check out the shops and hop on a duffy boat!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
You know, I think my husband deserves a shout out for contributing to my road to success with my brand. Whenever I lacked motivation, felt down or wanted to give up, he gave me a million reasons why I shouldn’t. He always pushes me, pumps me up with positive encouragement and reminds me why I started my business in the first place. And in my heart, my dad, who passed away in 2008 is a constant source of motivation. He was such a hard worker – full of energy and ideas. Long before the days of social media, he was always finding ways to do collaborations, get press and market his work (he was an artist and professor). I think about his accomplishments daily!
