Meet Seva Mouler | CEO and Founder of Two Pillars

We had the good fortune of connecting with Seva Mouler and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seva, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At Two Pillars we have one common goal for every product we make. Each step in our process, from design to production, aims to make looking after yourself more sustainable. Since 2017 we have been creating innovative and eco-conscious products for the modern kitchen. We have been featured on Good Housekeeping, and Mashable and sold in over 100 countries in stores like Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond, Walgreens, and more.

Most people use paper towels and plastic wrap to cover their food and avoid splatter. However, our newest product Duo Cover allows you to keep those paper towels and plastic wrap for other jobs, saving you money while saving the earth by cutting down on waste because it is made from BPA-free silicone.

Our company’s primary goal is to create innovative, home goods products that impact the environment in a positive way and that have the seamless design as well as integration into the home. Duo Cover was launched towards the beginning of this year on Kickstarter. We were fortunate enough to be featured on the Kickstarter homepage under “Products We Love” and “Trending” on the first day of our launch which just goes to highlight that in a world where climate change is increasingly becoming more of a problem there are people who want to join us in offering positive, alternative solutions.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our latest invention, Duo Cover, is a next-generation microwave invention that makes your leftovers moister, steams delicious new recipes, and keeps things from splattering everywhere. Plus no more ‘ouch, hot dish’ burnt fingers after the microwave. Most people use paper towels and plastic wrap to cover their food and avoid splatter. Duo Cover allows you to keep those paper towels and plastic wrap for other jobs, saving you money while saving the earth by cutting down on waste because it is made from BPA-free silicone. This product has several features that make it especially unique. One of these features is Duo Cover’s rotating MoistureLock™️ Knob. When you’re cooking food in your microwave, steam rises and pushes against the MoistureLock™️ Knob, allowing moisture from the top to steam your food. Once you are done revitalizing your leftovers the Duo Cover can easily be collapsible and be stored away using the microwave-safe magnets that are built into this design. Duo Cover is truly committed to providing a high-quality, eco-friendly kitchen essential that can be used to unlock your microwave’s potential while impacting the environment in a positive way.

When I reflect on how I got to where I am and the success that my company has had thus far I am reminded of the rollercoaster that is life and business. Yes, it sounds like a cliche, but there is a lot of truth in this imagery. I have overcome each and every challenge by reminding myself what my goal is. Each project and decision I make as a CEO has to align with the goals that I set. If I don’t do this then I am moving farther away from that. This is a lesson that does not have to only be applied to business as I am able to use this in every aspect of life. In addition to this lesson, I have also learned how important it is to build a team around me filled with people who are all committed to the same vision. When this happens team cohesiveness and optimal productivity can be achieved. Running a successful, small business is not run by just one person, but rather is based on how everyone can work together towards a common goal.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in Orange County especially very close to the beach and ocean front means that the weather is always beautiful. When my friends come to visit the area I always try to show them how many places there are to visit and eat at. I am fortunate that I have friends from all over the world which means that seeing them face to face is a highlight for me. Since the airport is close to Newport Beach we would go straight from there to my favorite spot for lunch which is Flower Child. We would then sit outside enjoying the sunshine while we catch up on what is happening in our respective lives. Before we do anything else we would make sure to enjoy the pool in our backyard and relax with a couple of Kona Brewing Company IPAs. In the evening the next stop on the itinerary would be ETC Sushi. There are so many amazing restaurants in the area, but I make it a point to try a variety of different cuisines. The rest of the trip would definitely include renting a Duffy boat and taking it out into Newport Harbor as well as continuing to spend quality time with the people that make me the happiest.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
When I was first born my family lived in Russia and we lived there for most of my early life until we moved to the United States. This business that I have helped create along with all of the other work that I have done to achieve success can be traced back to the work ethic that was instilled in me since childhood. My father and older brother have both gone on to become very accomplished in their own spheres. Being a startup founder and CEO has given me a special opportunity to truly build something from just an idea and to see it to fruition. My upbringing taught me that success is not earned without hard work and surrounding yourself with the right people. My family, my partner, and the team that I have created are all essential to making this company what it is today. Going to work every day is a new chance to build a new life and success for the future.
