We had the good fortune of connecting with Sevin Mundo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sevin, what role has risk played in your life or career?
“Those who have nothing to risk have nothing to gain” is something I live by. My life has always been a gamble. I live with an undying hope for a better future and that has come with a lot of success and failure too.
Comfort keeps us contained and there is so much to learn from uprooting yourself and rolling with the punches.
A whole world of opportunity opens up when you take a leap of faith. I’ve lived in a lot of different places and done things I never set out to do. In saying yes to risk, my life has been much brighter than I could have ever imagined.

In terms of my career, I never thought I would branch out and take photos for other people. All I knew was I loved portraiture. Capturing the essence of someone and placing them in a certain place at a certain time just felt really important. I soon began coming up with full fledged photo concepts based off of my dreams and sketches. Watching everything come to life was one of the most rewarding feelings. Being able to show people how beautiful they are made it all worth it. It genuinely felt like I was starting to create my own world.

Once I started collaborating with other artists things started to feel more serious. The more collaborating I did the happier I was and I found the perfect balance between work and play for the first time. I continue to craft a world of my own design while staying true to my roots.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
ENSHRINE : TO PRESERVE OR CHERISH AS SACRED

This year I have a lot of fun projects ahead but Femmes of Darkwave Vol 2 holds a very special place in my heart. Definitely be on the look out! Yvette and I have some really cool things planned.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A lot of people come to mind when I think about where I’m at now but to name a few my mom and grandma and my good friend and favorite collaborator, Yvette Aispuro.
