We had the good fortune of connecting with Shakira Miller and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shakira, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought of starting my own business came from. When I graduated college and went into the corporate lifestyle. Let’s just say from there forward when I knew owning my own business was the best for me as well as beauty. When I put the two together that’s how I began to figure it would work.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I wanted to create a business that was comfortable and welcoming to my clients. I wanted to create a business to show others that you don’t have to work a 9-5 and be miserable. And pretty soon my goal in life is to have a salon in upstate Ny where my family is from & Los Angeles California where I am looking to relocate hopefully soon! I got to where I am today by never giving up! When the business gets slow it can be discouraging at time but you should never give up I learned in order to be successful in the business world you have to stay consistent! Of course it was challenging because no one ever believes that hair is a real career, nothing in life is easy the challenging part was not everyone believing in your dream and trying to work to support your buisness! The lessons I learned is to stay consistent & never give up on your dreams no matter how challenging it may get even financially.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friends were visiting the area! First thing I would show is my success of course. Secondly In N out burger is my favorite! Lastly down rodeo drive Beverly Hills I love to hang out their and manifest what my lifestyle would be like in a couple of years. I’ll take them there to show them it’s more to life than our small city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First things first I want to thank God praying on what’s my purpose in life & guiding me to it. Then of course my mother for always pushing me. And my boyfriend for being with me for 8 years and actually help putting my business into reality. And my grandmother for giving me her talent skills in hair.
