We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanel Robinson Turner and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shanel, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve always wanted to own my own business. I’ve been a creative individual since I was younger & knew I was different. I’m a go getter and strive to be the best version of myself. My creativity and love for fitness and fashion was perfect because it’s been my passion. The spin on the name 7 miles was a no brainer! My children’s name are Seven and Miles 🙂

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What got me to where I am right now is dedication and discipline. I am proud to say I am a successful woman. I am blessed beyond measure. I am resilient. I am most proud of the family my husband and I created. The life we have built together. The struggles and triumphs that have made me who I am. The fighter in me that never gives up. I got my M.A in Education: Counseling when I was 26 years old. From there, I started a career in Counseling & Social Work. After 7 years, I decided I wanted more for myself. I got my real estate license and was sought after by different builders after just temping as a real estate hostess for only 2 months! I was hired right away by a well known builder. My husband and I also own a real estate business. In 2017, I took a leap and started 7 miles, which is a fitness apparel line. I was afraid to fail so I didn’t start selling until 2021. I wanted everything to be perfect and that was holding me back. Once I jumped, told myself “Do it Afraid,” and made a selling launch date, my business took off! 7 miles is for anyone that wants to look good while getting fit. It’s a brand that encourages women to be bold and proud! I want the world to know as long as you have God by your side, you can accomplish anything!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was coming from out of town and was here for a week, I’d take her to the beach. Santa Monica Beach. We’d eat a cafe because those are my favorite spots. We’d go the Temecula wineries and drink tons of wine! There’s local restaurants there that are amazing. We’d then head to San Diego. The weather is always perfect in San Diego and it’s so beautiful. We’d go shopping and enjoy each other’s company. There’s so many things about California I love so we’d go paint n sip, Hollywood walk of fame, a few lounges, Roscoes Chicken & Waffles, downtown LA, Victoria Gardens, and after all of that relax watching Reality T.V!!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to God, who allows me to fail, continues to love me unconditionally, and meets me where I am regardless of where I’ve been, what I’ve done, & what I’ve gone through. He offers confession, forgiveness, and allows me to walk in freedom! Shoutout to my husband who is always supportive of my dreams and visions. He pushes me and motivates me. We have been together 20+ years and we’ve been able to show our children what a loving imperfect marriage looks life. My final shoutout goes to my children Miles and Seven. I love them so much. They bring me joy. My life is dedicated to them. All I want is happy and healthy children. I pray they look up to me one day and think “Wow, mom does it all! Not only is she is businesswoman, wife, & mother. She has 3 degrees, a real estate license, a career, & was wise with her money, & created generational wealth!”
