We had the good fortune of connecting with Shanny Slay and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shanny, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up in Pomona, Ca. I was fortunate to come from a two parent household and grew up with a lot of wisdom and guidance. I was known as a dancer because I danced all the time even though I was terribly shy. It took a lot to get to the place where I am today because I had to learn myself as an individual and woman.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve been in the industry on and off for 12 years. I came back in 2020 and found a new passion by creating my own way. I started to creating, directing my own visuals to showcase my different skills. I know I can do a lot but no one really knows so I created those visuals to get an insight to my worlld. I attended and graduated as a Summa Cum Laude at Los Angeles School. I wanted to learn more about the business side since I’m pretty aware of what it takes when being in front. I said once I graduated, I will open my own talent management agency and eventually production company. Well, I fell in love with it and now here I am launching my company. I told myself I was going to do and I did. No, it wasn’t easy because you get to get over any self doubt and fears. I’ve learned if you stay the course by having faith, you can overcome anything and that’s what I did even with all the challenges I faced in completing my degree and now starting my business. I want people to know that I’m there are people here that truly care for others and wants to see others succeed and will do whatever is needed to be a service.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If it’s a hot day, I would definitely go to the beach either visit Venus or Santa Monica because there’s a lot nice small businesses and shows that happen there and good food to eat. Then probably take one of the 1 hr harbor Cruises in Long Beach and probably eat at Roscoes after in Long Beach. Then probably go bowling and Karaoke because I love karaoke. Then some wine tasting. Paint and sip because those are really fun to do. May catch a live performance in LA somewhere. Then on one of the nights go to Maestro’s steak house because it’s really that good. That’s all I can think of right now! lol!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shout out my company S.Slay Agency which is a talent management and creative service company that is geared towards providing resources and opportunities for the indie artist rather in film, music or fashion.
