We had the good fortune of connecting with Shawna Landon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shawna, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
Looking forward to my end goal in this business is ultimately to make my clients happy and to know I did the best possible job to facilitate that goal. Buying and selling a home can be a very emotional and scary experience. I want to support and do my due diligence to the best of my ability to make sure they feel at ease while making the process seamless and efficient.
I still have a long way to go before the end of my career, so professionally when that day comes. I would like for people to think of me being a hard-working agent in this business with integrity and honesty. It’s so important to me as well to have a good reputation because I’m a reflection and a role model to my children and would like to pass down that legacy as my own father did in his career. I believe we not only set examples of our character on a business level but also in our personal life as well.
What should our readers know about your business?
I feel I’m most excited to be a part of the Marc Hernandez Group at Compass in Beverly Hills. Being a real estate agent is something that is really enjoy. Buying and selling a home is the biggest financial transaction most people undergo in their lives. So when they hire you, it’s a pretty big deal and they’re entrusting you with such a huge emotional and financial endeavor. If you think about it, not only is it an exchange of money for a product, but it also defines someone’s security, hopes, and memories which are all defined in a single space that is your home. Like any business, you will run into challenges but it’s how you deal with the outcome knowing you’re giving it your all, and having the ability to always be open and learn even from your mistakes. We connect and associate ourselves with that place we call home. I don’t want to lose sight of that even though ultimately it is just a physical thing with a price on it, there is still a very deep connection and as a real estate agent. I don’t take that lightly. I still to this day go and visit the home I grew up in because it brings back nostalgic experiences and memories that will always be there.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m an Angeleno native so I have so many spots that I love. I especially love the coast not far from my home, the Terranea Resort, and hiking at Point Dume Natural Preserve. Griffith Observatory, especially at night with amazing views. When you don’t want beach crowds I love little hidden oasis gems, Bridge to Nowhere, Deep Creek Hot Springs, and Silverwood Lake. I’m a big foodie and I love Mercado in Hollywood, Gracias Madre in WeHo, and Rao’s for great Italian. I like Craig’s for a scene and Beauty & Essex for a fun Hollywood experience. My favorite sport is the stand up Paddle Board in Redondo Beach. The Paddle House is my happy place on the water alongside the dolphins.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So that’s a tricky question because so many people have influenced me in my life. Growing up I had my father, a very hard-working actor, producer, writer, and director. I felt I had a lot of expectations to fill even as a young adult. I had my mom who I watched overcome a lot in her life with grace, class, and dignity. I currently have my younger brother Chris Landon who made a name for himself in writing and directing who I look up to in so many ways. I’m a proud mother of three incredible children who help me strive to be a better person every day and a family that is so supportive. I made the leap from one real estate brokerage to Compass earlier this year and now work with The Marc Hernandez Group in Beverly Hills. There is no doubt I made the right move with this incredible team with such leadership and amazing quality agents that I get to work with on a daily basis.
