We had the good fortune of connecting with Shayla Varnado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shayla, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always had a gift for business strategy and honed that gift over the years studying business, marketing, and industry trends on digital platforms. I started ALYAHS Consulting because I saw so many people starting businesses that didn’t have the strategy to truly grow sustainably. My passion and creativity are what drive the innovation in marketing.

What should our readers know about your business?
ALYAHS is different from other digital marketing agencies because we’re a diverse team of women who specialize in multicultural marketing. We collaborate for our clients to create impactful marketing campaigns to drive business growth and build community engagement. We’ve grown a lot over the last 13 years because originally it was just me, coaching and consulting. It wasn’t until 2023 that I realized I needed more brains to expand how we serve our clients. There are definitely challenges that come with being a service based business and I think the biggest one I overcame early in business was getting clear on what my genius zone actually was and finding a team who could operate in their genius zones along side me. Together, we make an unstoppable force in digital marketing.
ALYAHS Consulting will be the leader in the multicultural marketing movement. We will use our voices and loudly call out the lack of diversity equity and inclusion in marketing campaigns. We will support brands who truly value DEI and want their efforts to extend outside of the company to impact the global marketplace.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Omg, I’m a foodie and a wine lover so when my friends visit we’re doing wine tastings at some local spots and eating really good! I also am a bit of a fitness fanatic so a good hike before an evening out sounds like a win as well!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
This shout out is dedicated to my husband and family. Their unwavering faith in me keeps me so motivated to build this empire!
