We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelbi Byrnes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelbi, how do you think about risk?
In life, you will work hard no matter what. You are either working hard for someone else or yourself, I’m born and raised in Las Vegas and this city is known for gambling and betting (although I don’t actually gamble and won’t because my moral beliefs) I came to the conclusion although I don’t gamble in that sense I’ll always bet on myself. taking ‘Risks” is what got me to where I’m at in life. Life would be boring following the “rules” and always being told what to do. I like a little bit of resistance, not doing things the traditional way, and making my own way. It reminds me of “BIG FAITH” Take the risk, say “yes” even if you don’t know what you’re doing, let faith lead you. I used to tell my mama growing up and now I tell the girls I mentor and coach “go for it, if you fall Jesus will catch you.” He won’t hand you nothing you can’t handle. You were made for this. The reason you have those dreams and desires is because it’s already being orchestrated, you just have to walk in faith and get out of being comfortable. Taking risks has taught me things don’t always look like what we think they will and that’s OK! It’s also taught me patience and I’ll say this… That’s something I’m always working on as an entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What I am most proud of is my faith, I have BIG FAITH and I know God is always working in my life. regardless of what I do or what the world see’s as success, I know nothing I do is in my strength but because God is leading me in that. I’m grateful and blessed the Lord has given me many opportunities to be on big stages, things I never even saw myself doing, being Miss Cuba 2024 and going to Japan was huge and such a time of growth, getting signed to Ford models and being represented worldwide was unexpected, being flown out to Saudi Arabia to cover Zenos health event wasn’t in my books, and being on the side of Resorts World Hotel I had no idea that, that girl would be me one day. I’ve always had big dreams and aspirations and I know hard work and sweat pays off but I will say this I know it’s because Gods grace and favor is over me and I can’t thank Him enough! <3

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
this is a SHELBI question for sure!! If you were to ask any of my friends what the itinerary is when they visit Las Vegas just know we WILL have a FULL schedule! First things first come Monday we got Crossfit Culmination to start the day strong and working out! Then a matcha or coffee after so we can go for a walk or run at Exploration Peak Park! Then we can make our way to Uncommons and grab a acai bowl to enjoy the outdoor trees and scenery listening to live music!! For shopping of course Downtown Summerlin (altered state, express, Lululemon, Abercrombie & Fitch, Mothership Coffee, Makers and Finders, or Phin Smith for a pick-me up! And then we can go play pickleball in Summerlin or volleyball at Sunset Park! I alsooooo LOVEEEE Lake Las Vegas renting kayaks and jumping in the lake is sooo peaceful! If they happen to be in town while a charity event is going on or I have a commitment you know of course I’m putting my friend to work so they can volunteer too with kids or help within the community! I’m apart of a non profit in Las Vegas called R3DEMPTION COMMUNITY! Sundays are for family and church so you’ll find me at City Lights Church listening to Pastor Jabin Chavez and I’ll probably be volunteering while my friend sits with my family ( I help people find seats at church) on another day we’ll make our way to Fit Club to workout or if I have a friend in town who is more a pilates girly we will hit up Tru Fusion! I love a good taco so Tacos El Gordo is always a must in Las Vegas and of course ya girl loves to dance so Stoneys or any country bar I can get down with it!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to say the biggest impact in my life is God, The Holy Spirit leading me, Thank you Jesus for being the example here on earth so that I may try my best to live accordingly! Secondly Coach Zac Odom, (my track and field coach, mentor, father figure, God spoke through him to impact me, not only was he training me physically, he trained me spiritually, and mentally. 3rd my best friend Alexis Smith, she’s a women’s empowerment coach, my bestie, my sister, she’s encouraged me to start my 3rd business and reminds me of Gods calling on my life. and last but not least, Mindy Pineda,(mama Mindy) spiritual leader, WOW I can’t express enough gratitude towards her, and her family Ryan Pineda pouring into me with such conviction and grace and being patient with me. It’s not only impacted me spiritually but how I manage and run my business and I can’t forget my immediate family, my mom Maria and dad Edward and of course older brother Dominic Byrnes who’ve pushed me along the way to make me better and encourage me when times are tough and one of the most important humans is Casey Cobe my man has been a solid rock for me when times are tough, he reminds me of Gods truth and what the Bible says when I doubt.. (Because doubt doesn’t come from God, it’s a lie from the enemy.) the list goes on and on but I always say God has put some incredible humans in my life to impact me and pour into me so I may pour into other people.
