Meet Shelley Kamack | Beauty Brand Founder & Boutique Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelley Kamack and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shelley, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I made the decision to do my homework and literally study successful businesses within my niche. I didn’t have to reinvent the wheel, so to speak. Duplication of a successful process goes a long way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I have worked as a freelance make up artist for more than twenty years, but ultimately it was losing my position in corporate America after a spinal injury that led me back to my passion, fashion and beauty. It has not been easy, and any chronic pain sufferer will attest to my day-to-day challenges, but it is all worth it. I want others to know that I’m a small brand with big goals. I have curated a line of cruelty free beauty products for all women. I believe in inclusivity and wanted all women to feel beautiful when wearing my brand. My desire is to encourage others to pursue their dreams in spite of obstacles, just as I am.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is tough to answer given the current COVID 19 restrictions, but I love nature so I would definitely take them to the beach. I love the beauty of Malibu and would love to take them to Mastro’s for a delicious outdoor brunch. We would spend a few days in the mountains, enjoying each other’s company while surrounded by amazing scenery. We would end our days fire side, catching up, exchanging ideas and brain storming goals, etc.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely enlisted the help of Mentors for this journey, and have read “Think and Grow Rich” and other business related books regularly, but I would have to credit my husband and my children for encouraging me and implementing an “all hands on deck” philosophy when it comes to ensuring I have the help I need to thrive and succeed as a small business owner and female entrepreneur. They are my “why” and my hustle would be in vain if not for them.
