We had the good fortune of connecting with Shelli Margheritis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shelli, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Working within the entertainment business for over 30+ years as an artist, educator, and employee, I wanted a company that would represent artists authentically and diversely and create opportunities professionally. Along with my business partners, Independent Artist Entertainment is a management company for directors, writers, actors, musicians, creative directors, and choreographers. The thought process was to create a company that would understand the goals of our artists and guide them in obtaining their goals.

What should our readers know about your business?
Independent Artist Entertainment is an artist management company for directors, writers, actors, musicians, and creatives. IAE has bi-coastal offices, and the success of IAE is rooted in finding solutions perfectly tailored to meet the needs of its clients. This battle-tested process has resulted in an equally impressive and elite roster of talent working in all facets of the industry.

The entertainment industry’s landscape is ever-changing, and the decades of experience have allowed the company partners to build a reputation of integrity, consistency, reliability, and commitment with all we work and communicate with. Building a business is not easy; however, dedication to our clients and to the entertainment industry makes the sometimes long days and challenging situations worth the effort.

Part of the reason I became an agent and manager within the entertainment industry is to support and guide artists in their career goals, and to be an advocate for them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Los Angeles and the fantastic places to eat and visit. In addition to seeing The Music Center, The Getty, The Academy Museum, and the Observatory, I would want to take visitors to Malibu Beach, The Huntington Library, an event at the Hollywood Bowl, and hiking among the gorgeous trails in the Santa Monica mountains.

The number of terrific restaurants in Los Angeles is limitless. Some of my favorite restaurants to have dinner at are The Royce within The Langham Huntington, Off Vine in Hollywood, Firefly in Studio City, and the historical landmark Yamashiro.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My business partners, Jenn Proctor and JC Gutierrez, have been instrumental in supporting and encouraging me. We have worked together for nearly 15+ years, and their knowledge and insight continue to inspire me.
