We had the good fortune of connecting with Shirley Paucar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shirley, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
As a Latina female business owner, I would dare to say that the majority of entrepreneurs are unaware that there are numerous organizations that assist small business owners, particularly if they belong to a minority group. Chambers of commerce, non-profit organizations, and government entities offer courses in business planning, marketing, finances and provide free or a very low-cost mentoring, all with the goal of fostering businesses thrive in the United States.
Additionally, they also offer assistance in accessing capital through grants and low-interest loans, all without mentioning the valuable networking opportunities available.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sweet Toppings is an artisan bakery and catering company that takes pride in providing top-tier catering services, complemented by the use of high-quality ingredients in the Metro Atlanta area and it’s surroundings. We deeply value our customers, which is why we are unwaveringly committed to using only premium ingredients, such as real vanilla, butter, cage-free eggs, fresh seasonal fruit and organic products.

Our dedication to the art of baking from scratch is paramount and we accentuate artisanal cuisine with a gourmet presentation that showcases our culinary prowess. We derive immense satisfaction from helping our customers craft memorable moments. We excel in tailoring the final touches of table decor to suit the unique needs and desires of each event and customer.
It was very challenging I can tell you that but the perseverance and commitment, has brought us where we at now.

Throughout my path, I’ve come to the realization that solo efforts rarely lead to success. It is within a team of capable individuals that true achievement thrives. Trusting my team and entrusting them with responsibilities, such as finances, marketing, social media and different culinary tasks has been the impetus for our accomplishments. I’ve also understood the significance of acquiring new skills or tapping into the expertise of others when confronted with unfamiliar assignments.
I want the world to know that everything is possible; it’s simply a matter of taking a leap of faith in yourself, enjoying the journey, and continually striving to become the best version of yourself every day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
What I love about the state of Georgia is its vast vegetation and landscapes. Stone Mountain is a fantastic attraction, especially when visited in the morning to witness the sunrise. From the summit, you can take in the entire cityscape on one side, with towering skyscrapers, and on the other, lush greenery. Don’t miss the laser show on the mountain every Saturday night. I also highly recommend taking a boat ride on Lake Lanier for a delightful water adventure.

When it comes to dining, Grindhouse Killer Burgers offers excellent burgers, and for those who prefer Mexican food, I recommend La Botana Tex-Mex. It’s a small, family-owned restaurant run by four siblings. If you ask for Jose, you’ll enjoy getting to know him as he has a great sense of humor.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In my story The Latin American Association will always play an important role in my entrepreneureal path and they will be my forever second home. The support and continuing coaching throughout their various programs has given me the opportunity to grow and scale up my business and brand to the next level. My family, friends and customers who believed and supported me from the very beginning.
My son who came to my life to show me “the memories we share are the ones we value the most”.
As he grows I learned with him how to be a mother, and with my husband how to be a wife but most of all to appreciate the little details in life and the value of our precious time.
They inspire me to fight for my dreams, changing my mindset, believing in all I can achieve and open my wings to be an entrepreneur.
But none of this would be possible without the presence of God, who showed me his mercy everyday and brought me to this world to be part of the change. He puts the right people at the right time for the right reason.
