We had the good fortune of connecting with Shonda Melton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Shonda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting my business was “can I really be successful with this?” Everyday I would think about failing and giving up. But then I would think about the power I have to become a successful entrepreneur.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am a baker but I am so much more than just “The cake lady”. When I bake I think of it as something special and I want the world to feel happy and loved when they purchase from me. I love to see people happy. My personality is more than enough to set me apart from other bakers. I love to go above and beyond for my people. Running a business is truly a challenge and it gets harder everyday, but whats worth having if you didn’t work for it? I want the world to know that I am a talented creator and I will be at the top sooner or later. The treat queendom will be a success!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Honestly, I don’t get out much. If I am not working my day job, I am in the kitchen baking. I plan to be a millionaire one day. I will play later.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family. They have supported me through it all. Believing in me and encouraging me to keep going.
