Meet SHOTTI NYC | Photographer & Creative Professional

We had the good fortune of connecting with SHOTTI NYC and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi SHOTTI NYC, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Both literally and figuratively, thought process behind starting my own business was rooted in me finding freedom for myself. Since a child, the main thing I’ve always wanted to do was “whatever I wanted to do. Having many interests and capabilities, I wanted to explore them all and never be locked into doing the same thing forever. I can barely do the same thing for 10 minutes without becoming distracted. This is the 4th time I’ve tried to complete this interview. Lol hope it’s the last.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m not sure what easy is anymore. As I get older and more experienced, I see nothing is easy or hard. Things are just tedious. It’s easy for me to run 3 miles but it’s hard to respond to emails with a cheerful “text tone”. Lol
I’d love to say hard work got me to where I am, but having strong relationships and engaging properly with people has created more opportunities for me than anything else. There were times where I was really at the top of my game but difficult to work with and it got me nowhere. We tend to think that we need to have this fake persona but really we just have to not be a d*ck
I want the world to know that nothing should stop you from telling your story! I’m all about trying to provide access now. That’s the direction my career is going.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
As New Yorkers, we tend to be underwhelmed by the NYC tourist attractions. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I even realized the Empire State Building was on 33rd and 5th. I can see it from my apt window, but I never thought to explore it outside of a school trip in elementary school. I would definitely spend a day hitting all the tourist traps. The Statue of Liberty, The Top of The Rock, ETC. Then we’d have to come to my apt in the Bronx so that I could properly initiate them (If you know you know… check my IG stories). I’m a food lover so we would most certainly do food tours in the boros, although a lot of my favorite places didn’t make it through covid, unfortunately.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve been blessed to have support in every endeavor at some level but most importantly I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my mother who showed me that I could be love unconditionally and to my daughter who showed me that I could love unconditionally. Without that love, I wouldn’t be alive.
