Meet Shyne Webster | Founder, Brand Strategist, Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Shyne Webster and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shyne, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
After going through a couple pivots and working with over 100 clients in under three years, the number one lesson my entrepreneurial journey has taught me is actually kind of ironic. It’s that your career, your business, your job – that’s your side hustle. Your main job is *yourself.*
I’ve learned that my most important job, the thing I should focus on most, is to be a PERSON first. To make sure I’m working on myself, going to counseling, regularly spending time with my friends and family, reading books, having hobbies that I don’t monetize, moving my body every day. That’s my real job. My business is my second job, my side gig.
The reality is, when you’re doing well holistically, that naturally causes more success in your business. I’ve made the most money and had the most momentum when I wasn’t obsessing over work 24/7, when I chose not to work nights, when I went out with my friends and enjoyed being a regular teenager in college. I showed up in my business the best when I was actively going to counseling, when I worked out 4+ times a week, when I took care of my spiritual health.
If you’re not doing well as human being, it’ll manifest in every aspect of your life, including your work. If you’re not taking care of your mental health, you’ll eventually end up burnt out or insecure or broke, to be honest. And worse, if you’re not taking care of your physical health, you’ll end up not even being able to do the work you care so much about anyways. So, my biggest lesson is that I have to be good as a human being before I can be a good CEO.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Designed by Shyne is a brand consultancy, and anti-agency agency, if you will, that evolves good businesses into irreplaceable brands. We help disruptors, innovators, and artists do things differently and cultivate culture and community in their brands. What makes us different is that we’re not some huge corporate marketing agency that cares about making billions of dollars — our approach is human-first, meaning our whole purpose is grounded in creating human connection, building brand ecosystems and experiences that people feel seen in, that people belong to, that people WANT to invest time, energy, and money into. We care. And it shows in our work and in our client results.
We started out with one person, Shyne, selling t-shirts. And now we’re a growing team of creatives serving brands like Adobe, multiple tech startups, e-commerce businesses, and rising creators and musicians. Our story, my story, is one of several late nights, lots of Google docs, investing in coaches and courses, obsessively learning all the time, and churning out high volumes of content…but it’s also a story of community, opportunity, and truly loving your craft. What I want the world to know is that whatever you’re chasing, whatever you want, is closer than you think. The best opportunities so far have been a result of the butterfly effect.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to dedicate my shoutout to God, actually. I wouldn’t have any of this without Him. And to the people around me, the community who has been such a solid support system since day 1, I thank you for always encouraging me to chase my dreams.
