Meet Sierra Brooks | Human Resources and Recruitment

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sierra Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sierra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
As someone who’s worked in human resources for over a decade, I’ve come to realize my gift and passion for helping small boutique companies thrive. From recruiting to creating processes and systems, I thoroughly enjoy working with tiny minority companies and ensuring they have fair and equitable human resources practices.
One of the biggest challenges that smaller companies face is navigating the legal risks and implications of best business practices, as well as creating a strong work culture. This is where I come in – by providing efficient recruitment services, I can help establish fairness and equality in the workplace, while also implementing DEI efforts and driving positive change for small to mid-size companies.e for small to mid-size companies.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe what makes me unique is my ability to handle rejection and keep going. As someone who works in Human Resources, I have learned to face adversity in many forms. Whether it comes from clients or changes in policies and regulations, I have had to put aside my emotions and learn from my mistakes or disagreements. Emotional intelligence is crucial to succeed in this field, and I am proud to have developed a strong sense of it. As a minority business owner, I am excited to help my clients and employer by bringing about positive changes that will last for years to come.
It took a lot of hard work and persistence to get where I am today. After a decade of experience in this industry, I have become an expert in my field. I have learned the importance of knowing when to suggest changes and when to step back and create a healthy work dynamic.
I want everyone to know that with faith in God and a clear vision, anything is possible. It’s important to write down your goals, pray for guidance, and trust in the process. Success may not come easily, but with determination, perseverance, and a positive attitude, it can be achieved.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Aunt Trenise is an incredibly important person in my life. Without her, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. She helps me balance my emotions and provides guidance and mentorship for both my personal and work-related needs. It’s rare to find someone who doesn’t judge or create bias, but my Aunt Trenise is one of those exceptional people. As a black woman, she is a role model and an inspiration to me and her community. She is a successful business owner, a devoted mother, and a caring aunt. What I admire most about her is her unwavering commitment to helping others. She is always there to lend a hand or offer support to anyone who needs it.
