Meet Skye Ding | CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Skye Ding and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Skye, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I spend much of my time in my office, living room, and kitchen. These are my favorite spaces at home. As someone who loves color, I found myself uninspired by the flatware sets and desk organizers on the market. Everything felt too neutral, nothing that sparked joy or made a statement.
So, I set out to change that. I began designing home products that are both functional and vibrant. My carefully created pieces bring personality into everyday spaces. What started as a personal need quickly grew into ANNOVA: a collection of colorful, thoughtfully designed essentials that brighten homes and bring stories to the table.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My goal has always been to create my own dream home and to help other families do the same. There’s nothing more fulfilling than knowing I’ve played a small part in making someone feel happier in their own space. That joy is what fuels my creativity, which is something I’m incredibly proud of. One of the things I love most about being a business owner is the freedom to bring my ideas to life. I get to test every product and design personally. This is something I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do in a traditional corporate setting. While entrepreneurship has its challenges, especially when it comes to managing the supply chain and maintaining quality, I’ve worked hard to build strong relationships with trusted suppliers. That effort stems from one of my core values: caring deeply about my customers. With thoughtful, colorful designs, I want every family to feel like even the simplest meals are special. With ANNOVA flatware on the table, everyday moments can feel just a little more luxurious.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were visiting Orange County for a week, I’d plan the perfect mix of relaxation, adventure, and amazing food. We’d start by reconnecting with nature. Crystal Cove is at the top of my list. It’s my favorite coastal spot, with breathtaking views, peaceful hiking trails, and the ideal beach for soaking up the sun or taking a calming stroll.
We’d spend a day window shopping at South Coast Plaza, followed by a meal at RH Newport Beach. The design and the atmosphere perfectly captures that effortless California coastal vibe that I can’t get enough of.
No trip would be complete without a food tour through my favorite local spots. We’d kick things off with the ultimate SoCal classic: In-N-Out. From there, we’d hit local gems like The Taco Stand for laid-back bites, and round it out with some oceanfront dining to end the day on a high note. In between beach days and brunches, we’d cruise down Pacific Coast Highway at sunset, soaking in the scenery. I’d also make sure to take them to my favorite spaces that blend beautiful home design with true California style.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a heartfelt shoutout to my women’s entrepreneur support group — without their encouragement, I may have never found the confidence to take that first step toward starting my own business. Having a supportive network makes all the difference, and I truly believe every woman deserves that kind of community behind her. If you’re dreaming of launching something you’re passionate about, let this be your sign: go for it. You’re more capable than you know!
