Meet Somayeh Faal | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Somayeh Faal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Somayeh, what’s your definition for success?
Success is a term that has different meanings for different people, and it often depends on personal standards. For example, someone might consider achieving their highest potential in a certain area to be the ultimate success.
As an artist, I believe that there are no limits to learning and developing in my craft. In order to create a successful piece of art, I must have a comprehensive understanding of both the whole and the parts of my subject. Consequently, each work of art I create is a success to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been painting since I was about 7 or 8 years old. At first, my dad thought I was just tracing lines, but he later realized that I was actually very talented at drawing. Over the years, I’ve pursued painting professionally and have taken part in numerous national and international exhibitions, winning some awards along the way.

I have tried many ways to make money and support my art. However, I have learned that success is not something that can be achieved in the short term. It takes years and even a lifetime of hard work and dedication. For the last 30 years, I have been following my childhood dream and have faced many challenges along the way, including working for free for some companies to showcase my artwork.

I have traveled for ten years between two cities to introduce my art to the art communities, which involved a 36-hour round trip that I did regularly once a week. Along the way, I have learned that patience and persistence are significant keys to success.

Despite the hard times, I see myself on the path to success and close to achieving my goals. I hope that by sharing my story as an international artist who proved that all impossibilities are possible, the world will be inspired.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
In my opinion, the best way to create a lasting memory is by going on a good trip. So, I suggest to my friends that we go on a three-day excursion to either the woods or the beach. During this trip, we can walk, eat delicious food, and enjoy the sounds of nature and birds chirping.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Obviously family are the first supporter to achieve any success.
