We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Gibbs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophia, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Work life balance has changed immensely over the past few years. I no longer “go” to work. As I am a Stay at Home mother and content creator. As a parent, you’re on and running. ALL. THE. TIME. You can’t clock out, even when you want to, and trust me… you’re going to want to some days. Lol But I definitely know the importance of having that set time with yourself, where you can just set your mind at ease and breathe, or get some wine or do something for yourself. As far as a set balance – overall, I think everyone is really just trying to do their best in every possible aspect and that alone can take a toll. I don’t believe there is such thing as a perfect, line in the sand, as to what a work/life balance is, but that you really have to keep your mindset positive and happy as to where you enjoy where you’re at and what you’re doing to meet whatever goals you’re holding for yourself. For some, it may be taking on overtime hours at work, for others it’s taking that 2 week vacation to go sit on a beach. It’s all finding your own median and reminding yourself to take care of you.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I began my blog to really create a sense of empowerment and connection to other women and mothers. There are so many life experiences, both positive and negative and I really aspire to be that light where someone doesn’t feel alone. That I can say, yes, I’ve been there – I’m going through it. We’re going to be just fine. I have really tried to focus on expanding pieces of myself into my blog and social media and it has definitely snowballed into an opportunity for me to truly show what inspires me day in and day out while inspiring others to get that excitement to believe in themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Our local Tucson city, is so incredible let me just say that. Some of my absolute favorite spots are… The Welcome Diner, they literally have the BEST Mac & cheese. I feel like I’m twelve talking about it, but it’s true. They have an awesome menu, and it’s a very laid back spot. Barrio Brewing, a local Tucson brewery – their beers are amazing. I enjoy the Barrio Blonde as well as their Mocha Java Stout. I also love coffee so… this one made sense. Haha – They also have the BEST Tequila Cilantro wings and I crave their beer battered fries, all the time. Hands down – so good. We cannot forget some breakfast spots… I realize I’m talking a lot about food, but it really just makes the world go round. I love Prep and Pastry for their French toast, pastries, mimosas and the ambiance. It’s always a hit. I would also love to visit Baja Cafe! Their pancakes are everything… Everything. I’ve always enjoyed anything and everything I’ve tried from there. An interesting outing would definitely be either Mt Lemmon or Star Pass in the evening. You can see the entire city at night, it can be quite romantic with the right person… haha I also very much enjoy the Mercado District, this includes Mercado San Agustin as well as the MSA Annex – it’s perfect area, close to downtown with plenty of choices to pick up a coffee and take a stroll checking out other local shops.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My number one hype man, my husband, TJ. I woke up one morning almost with a realization of what I wanted to do for myself, to continue creating while being with my daughter (at the time we only had one little babe). I needed to get my thoughts into the world because I felt like, there is no way I’m the only person feeling this way… and TJ has always been supportive, reading my posts prior, even giving his additional input at times. He’s an incredible partner.
