Meet Sophia Renée | Luxury Event Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sophia Renée and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sophia, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I actually decided to pursue a creative career while pursuing my Business Degree at Cal State Long Beach. I saw what a “9-5” life could look like, and I knew that wasn’t for me. After I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree, I decided to pivot. I knew I wanted a more free flowing, artistic career, where my passions could truly thrive. That’s when I started Events by Sophia Renée.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Events by Sophia Renée really started yearsssss ago. I was just using different mediums back then.

I’m an Event Stylist, but I’m also a painter, a photographer, a graphic designer, etc.

I’ve studied business and art for years to get to where I am today, and I’m proud to say I’m still growing and learning everyday!

My mission is to create personalized art and share that with my clients and fellow creatives.

I love curating original luxury balloon backdrops & floral designs that are going to make my clients events memorable, unique, and picture worthy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LA is such a beautiful place with soooo many different options for things to do.

I would probably dedicate each day to a different part of the area.

One day we’d go to the beach, one day we’d explore DTLA, one day we’d go on a food tour of all my favorite hidden gems (key word: HIDDEN), one day we’d go hiking, and on the final day I would take them to my favorite queer cocktail bar, Honey’s LA (a must-do, for the culture).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love this question. Starting your own business, especially one like mine, can be terrifying. Luckily, I have an amazing support system.

To my mom,
I wouldn’t be here without you. Thank you for believing in me and supporting me every step of the way. You mean the world to me.

To my wife,
Thank you for helping me bring all my ideas to life. Thank you for taking on this business as a second job (even though you didn’t have a choice). Thank you for believing in me even when no one else did.

To my friends.
I always see other small businesses post about how their friends won’t support their business. I’m so blessed to say I cannot relate! Y’all are my biggest supporters and I can’t thank you enough.
