Meet Stacey Millett | Web and Graphic Designer & Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stacey Millett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stacey, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
One of the most valuable habits we have found is being committed. In the early days of building Willhouse, we faced the battles of uncertainty and struggle. It would have been easier to give up or settle for a different path. However, we kept our chins up and dedicated ourselves to our business, that persistence worked and I love to encourage other business owners to keep going and stay committed.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business is Willhouse. We are a multimedia studio creating brands, websites, and photography. Richard’s background began in music and music recording and grew into web and print development, Richard is creative but his special power is understanding tech. I (Stacey) studied photojournalism, dabbled in professional sports and advertising but found a happy pace photographing weddings, lifestyle portraits, and content for brands, I began creating brands about ten years ago after diving into learning the Adobe programs, and Richard sparking my interest into this medium. Building a business together was an organic, steadily moving thing that turned into one of the best decisions we made together. We are a great combination of style and tech, storytelling and function, structure, and breaking rules. Our greatest joy is helping businesses thrive and it is an honor to be a part of so many success stories.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We work hard, so having moments of unwinding is vital. In Ventura, there is so much outdoors to explore. We love to hike the Ojai Mountains or local Ventura trails such as Harmon Canyon or the Ventura Botanical Gardens. We ride our bikes all around the town and love to stop for a drink at Beach House Fish/Madewest. During, Covid 19 we have been doing a lot of picnics and like to gather up supplies or stop and get tacos at Spencers Mackenzie or Pierpont Tacos, a great place to picnic is Memorial Park or Marina Park. Our dog is our constant companion and she loves to walk the beach, her favorite beach is Surfer’s Point. We love happy hour with friends at Rumfish Y Vino or Finney’s.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I credit my success and the success of my partnership and business Willhouse to so many, it is difficult to credit or pinpoint one person. Foundationally, my parents and my business partner’s parents helped raise us to be independent, creative, and thinkers. Now, we have the support of great friends and fellow business owners to lean on, share thoughts, network and most importantly celebrate with. Of course, I am grateful to Richard, my business partner who gives me endless love and is always up for challenges and growing our business.
