We had the good fortune of connecting with Stefani & Brad Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stefani & Brad, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I knew I wanted to start my own business when I realized that I wanted to be my own boss and make my own schedule. I knew I’d have a hard time sitting behind a desk from 9am-5pm. My family all works in the wedding business so I was able to see firsthand the benefits of being your own boss. It didn’t come without challenges, but it’s been well worth it after 13 years in business for myself.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In today’s digital world, it’s hard to set yourself apart from your competition. My husband and I feel that the number one thing that sets us apart from others in the industry now is our connection we have with our couples. We really try to go above and beyond for each couple and treat them as if they’re old friends. We want them to feel as comfortable as possible in front of our lens on their wedding day and having that connection is a big part of it. I’m really proud of how my husband and I work together on wedding days and behind the scenes. We’ve been in business together for the last 6 years and it gets better and better each wedding. We’re not perfect and we don’t always see eye to eye, but learning from each other and how we operate has been a huge asset to this business.

My first few years in business were challenging to get my name established and create a portfolio that spoke to my brand. Once I finally got it going, it’s been successful in my area. Then after adding videography with my husband, we’ve been able to double and triple what we were doing in years past.

We truly love what we do and love that we get to do it together.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Our favorite places near the beach are the Riviera Village in Redondo Beach by where we used to live. Everything is walking distance and very relaxing. HT Grill is one of our favorite restaurants/bars with live music. In Downtown LA, we’ve always loved the Arts District and walking around after grabbing a mint mojito from Philz.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband – my partner in all things.
