We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Schulz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
By choosing to call myself an actor. To not be afraid, ashamed or embarrassed by that fact. Once I was willing to admit it to myself, say it out loud and introduced myself as such, the fear of the stigma or possible shame dissipated.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am very excited and proud of my involvement in the scripted television series on the INSP channel called “Elkhorn.” It’s based on the time that Theodore Roosevelt spent in the Badlands of the Dakota Territory in 1883. I play a character named “Maddox,” the seamstress responsible for making his buckskin suit in which he was famously photographed in. It is my greatest achievement and most professional acting experience thus far.

But I would not have gotten to this point without perseverance. Just keep going. Don’t ever stop, don’t ever look back. Just keep moving forward. “Success” didn’t come early for me, and if I had quit by a certain “deadline;” I would never have enjoyed the experiences of what I have achieved so far. I haven’t come this far, just to come this far. So why stop now?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Yoga at the beach in Santa Monica with MK Yoga Vibes, then coffee afterwards at Gnarwhal Coffee Co or Groundwork Coffee Co. Or perhaps hiking at Temescal Canyon Trail in Pacific Palisades, followed by brunch at Cafe Vida. An evening of dinner and entertainment at The World Famous Magic Castle. Drinks at the rooftop bar Perch in DTLA, with late night tacos from Tacos 1986. A tour of the fabulous Biltmore Hotel, also located in DTLA; within walking distance of Grand Central Market; a foodies delight. Or grabbing some Italian at Maccheroni Republic before taking in a live theatre performance at either The Ahmanson or The Mark Taper.
Some other venues to check out for live theatre performances are The Geffen, The Pantages and The Kirk Douglas. Support the Arts!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Besides my friends, family and loved ones who have supported be through all of my adventures and endeavors; the only singular person that comes to mind would be my high school drama teacher, Ms. Cori Barber. She drove me to LA to audition for conservatories after high school to further my theatrical studies. And, 30 years later, when I was shooting a pilot in our old stomping ground; she allowed me to stay with her. Where she continued to show me support and encourage me every day.
