Meet Stephanie Solomon | Published Children’s Book Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Solomon and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, how do you think about risk?
In the process of writing my first children’s book I had less than $800 in my bank account. I always knew I was doing this for purpose over profit. It took all the hardships, grit, and grace to discover my own worth and publish a book about that. I truly believe that sometimes you have to risk everything for a dream that no one can see but you. For me, taking risks gives me an adrenaline rush of motivation; to manifest the greater the risk I take, the bigger the impact I will have for myself and others.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
All of my children’s books have a special page dedicated to the illustrator. I draw out all my artwork and vision goals, then hand them off to the professional. My pet tortoise, Penelope Joy, is featured in all my books as well. I love finding a foundation of my choice that I donate a portion of book sales to. Striving for purpose over profit and these unique standards when writing my books is what sets me apart from others. I really want to leave the world better than I found it. The journey here was not an easy route, but I have learned a lot and had the privilege to help others along the way to succeed in their own writing endeavors. The greatest lesson I’ve learned, is to just START! Even if you’re not ready, START! With my third book (Aloha ‘Oe; aiming to change the stigma around stillbirth), I didn’t have all the pieces ready before I wanted it to blossom, but I just went for it, and it all came together in the end. I’m hoping this book will have an even bigger impact and really help those who need it most. I want the world to know that my brand and story revolves around faith. When you start your dream with FAITH, you will never be empty handed or disappointed. I’ve learned that when you create light for others, you naturally light your own way. Most importantly YOU are your greatest investment #knowyourworth.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to “Surf City” Huntington Beach, California. This has always been my “childhood” dream destination. I am a big “foodie” and adventurer. I would take them for a bike ride on the pier, then stop off at Sandy’s for a famous Mai Tai made by Christian my favorite bartender in all the land, followed by a walk around Main Street and lunch at Sharkeez to devour their amazing tacos. I would also take them to my favorite clothing shop, Model Citizen. Go to the winery across the street to enjoy a glass of their yummy viognier after.
I would also take them to Dog Beach to enjoy the scenery and pet all the cute pups. Treat ourselves to ice cream at Handel’s. Take them for a show at the speakeasy inside Gastropub for a good acoustic cover.
Walking around Pacific City and people watching, while shopping is a must! Stitch and Feather is one of my “go to” stores. For fun nightlife entertainment, I would take them to Bungalow and dance the night away.
My two favorite places for a splurge dinner are BLK and Blue Gold. Ola also has really good lobster & shrimp tacos. A Duffy boat rental is always a pleaser. Exploring the harbor and going to Balboa Island for a fun filled day.The Watertable at the Hyatt serves my favorite cappuccino (Pete’s cup) with a roasted cinnamon stick. If it’s not too windy, I’m a sucker for a good bonfire and s’more making. Honestly my favorite part about Huntington Beach is that there is so much to do in walking distance. I’m not a fan of dealing with parking & you really can’t go wrong for an adventure around there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Ariel, who is not only one of my dearest friends, but I am lucky to call her family, was the biggest inspiration behind my first children’s book #knowyourworth. She was diagnosed with Triple Negative breast cancer at the age of 30 and is still fighting and proving statistics wrong. She would always tell me that I didn’t just watch things happen, I made them happen, with her reminding me that it inspired me to truly finish out this bucket list goal. I am especially grateful for all the people who helped me reach my fundraising goal for breast cancer research and education. With the help of friends and family I was able to exceed my goal in under a month. Raising over five thousand dollars and continually donating a portion of the proceeds to smaller and local organizations that help other women going through this unimaginable time.
