We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Van Burk and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Stephanie, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I did pursue a creative career because I found myself healing through the process. Painting has an calming and healing effect on me.
It helps express myself and I found fullfillment through the process.
Nervosity, anger, frustration, sadness, fear but also happiness or love are all laying through the strokes of my abstract paintings.
The choice of colors are as well matching my current state of mind when I paint. I believe that colors have as well healing powers.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My brand message is “Wear Your True Colors” a message that stands for equality, human rights, self-confidence, and of course, love.
I am on a mission that uses color in art to spread love all around me.
I encourage everyone to embrace who they are and add color to the world, one colorful jacket at a time.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
To be honest I would take them on a road trip to Big Sur. I would bring them to see the seals, get them to pic nic on a clifs and watch a sunset. Nature is what I love the most and is extremely inspiring to me. California is a beautiful state.
I would love to share my love for its nature.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my mother. She helped me through life like no other and has always been there for me at all time in my life. Saving me, rescue me, helping me, mentoring me, showing me the way. She is the strongest and most amazing woman I know.
Someone that loves me unconditionally and that I love unconditionally.
