We had the good fortune of connecting with Stephanie Vu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stephanie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My photography business started from pure enjoyment of the craft but the journey has evolved it to something even better than what I could’ve imagined. The main goal was always to create, make people get joy out of what I made, and that fact that they could grow and benefit was the cherry on top. I’ve always been very business forward and I think I really enjoyed being an additive benefit to my customer’s brands while doing what I loved. It seemed like a win win and that mindset has always been behind my thought process.

As I noticed how important content was, I wanted to make the process more accessible to everyone from small business owners to the bedroom creators. The business I am building now is to provide everyone resources they need bring their ideas to life. That is the birth of Propsicle, a one stop shop for tools to upgrade your content to make creating easier.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I believe my goal sets me apart, I want to ignite the creativity in everyone. I think we are all artists inside, we all create something whether it’s technical or not, we all instinctually want to build.

What I want to build with Propsicle is to answer everyone’s question on HOW to create. This brand is for the up and coming creatives who want to build a career, the hobbyists who know what they want but not sure how to get there, and the aspiring business owners that need content for their brand. I am a self taught photographer, religious student of Youtube, and always asking questions trying to learn or figure how to adopt a new skill. Propsicle will be a place to answer all your questions and provide you with the tangible tools you need to make your visions come a reality. Many of us creatives had a lot of questions starting out and I think it should be an easier path.

Aside from the vision, it hasn’t been an easy path switching from a service based business to a product one. It’s been an arduous process sourcing the right manufacturers, handling logistics, and branding. However, today I know nothing is impossible. There are so many resources out there such as Facebook groups, peers, and good ole Google that I urge anyone who wants to start a business to do it because YOU CAN! Ask anyone and everyone questions, they’re more willing to help than you think they are.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Alright, so if someone is visiting my favorite city of Los Angeles, the city I call home it would be a well balanced and diverse adventure. What you need for a Los Angeles adventure is the beach, a nice view, drinks, multiple meals, and a drive down a bustling street. We’d start the day off with brunch on a rooftop, probably at Elephante in Santa Monica to take in the beach view. Next, we would stroll down to the pier and jump off into the sandy shores and grab a tan while we’re at it. Then we’d hop in the car with the top down and drive down PCH and into the city. For drinks, I’d take you to the Abbey in WeHo or Lock and Key in Koreatown for some shots and dancing of course. Finally we’d end the night at Avenue 26 for the best al pastor tacos in town.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Definitely my fellow creatives that always challenge, inspire, and support me. One of the best parts about photography is the amazing people you meet along the way. Everyone is so inviting and willing to try new things. When everyone is for the vision you never get tired because you’re always innovating for the purpose of growing together.
