We had the good fortune of connecting with Studio Zedsie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a cross between art, invention, and fashion. I tend to gravitate towards things that look like little characters or things that have a very unique function. I like to think there is a little inventiveness behind the things that I make. Things that make me excited are objects that look like toys but are really meant for that inner child in me. I think a really good description is that I want my work to have a character behind them. I want them to look like they will come alive like the Pixar Lamp. I am an only child and objects that feel like they are going to come alive have always comforted me from those summers where I had no one to play with or even talk to. I find that objects make me feel comfortable, I need to be surrounded by them to feel at home which is why I need to have so many things around my apartment! I eventually want my work to reach into fashion somehow, why shouldn’t a mug be shown off like the latest sneaker by adidas? A decent mug costs the same as a decent sneaker?

The reason why I decided to pursue my own small business is because I wanted to craft my own voice in this world. Up til this point I have always developed the ideas of companies and not of my own. So i wanted to start this to build my world and my story and hopefully enough people will be interested 🙂

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’ve been completely obsessed with Laguna Beach lately—every beach there is so charming! We’ve visited three different beaches, and each one has its own unique appeal, as if they were plucked straight from the Amalfi Coast. Next, I’d take you to the Long Beach Flea Market, the ultimate destination for all things thrifted. California’s thrifting culture is on another level, with endless treasures to discover and buy. From there, we’d head over to the San Gabriel Valley, home to some of the best Asian food around—it’s truly a paradise of incredible restaurants, almost too many to name.

For drinks, the vibes are perfect at Bacari Silverlake, a treehouse-like spot where we can enjoy wine in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. Then, we’d indulge in some Italian food at Donna’s—my favorite is the chicken marsala. We’d wrap up the trip with a show at The Comedy Store in Hollywood, a perfect ending to a fun-filled day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Finding the right teacher can truly change the course of your life. Pottery wasn’t even on my radar until later in life, but everything shifted when I met Patricia, my first pottery instructor at Mud Matters in Manhattan. She inspired a deep passion for the craft in me; every class felt like years of her knowledge just poured out effortlessly. After trying classes with several other instructors, it was Patricia who kept me coming back. Without her, I doubt I’d be as obsessed with pottery as I am today. Teachers in America often don’t receive the recognition and praise they deserve, yet their impact is profound. I often wonder, if I were to teach one day, could I be as impactful to someone else as Patricia was to me?

I also have to give credit to my high school art teacher, Mrs. Green, who encouraged me to consider design as a career. She gave me that crucial nudge to pursue art and design at a time when I struggled to envision where it might lead.
