Meet Su Jiang | Video Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Su Jiang and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Su, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Passion is the most imporant factor. Because if you love what you are doing, you will have the motivation and energy to keep spending your time and love on it. Then if you can earn or get benefits from it, you will have more passion and energy to invest more on it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a video/film editor, and I am enjoying from the editing process. I think I am a good communicator. and I can always deliver my thoughts and opinion accurately. I am also a quick responder, so I think most colleagues, clients, and my supervisor likes to work with me. I believe that sets me apart from others.

Every time when I see my work is online or in the festival, and I will be so proud of myself. I love to watch other people’s reaction to my work, and I am happy when I got positive feedbacks. Also, I love people to tell me what can I improve, so it is a good chance to learn. Besides that, I got a lot of chance to meet a lot of stars, celebrities, and influencers, such as Daniel Cretton, Daniel Wu, Eileen Gu, and Jamie Foxx. Some of them even become a good friend of mine.

Other than communication skill, I think I am a fast doer and fast learner, so it brings me to today’s spot. I always make quick decision, and I can do a quick revise when I realise things are not right.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend is visiting me a week, I will show them the most popular sites of Los Angeles in the first 3 days, So, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood Walk of Fame, Griffith Observatory, Staples Center, Disney, and Universal Studios will be the first 3-4 days’ itinerary. I want him to be a normal tourist in the beginning, so he will have the same experience as other tourists at first. Then I will show him my favorite local spots, restaurants, bars, and beaches. I will take him to my school, Chapman University, to show him some of my school memories and give him a lesson about film production. I will also take him to my favorite beach Laguna Beach, to show him the view and art galleries. I want him to know more about where I live, so he will have a deeper LA experience than a normal tourist.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to my Chapman family Roxy Jin, Zhongyang Lyu, Yuxi Xing, Nina Zhu for helping me with my career in Crazy Maple Studio as an editor. Then I want to shout out to my girlfriend for understanding me and supporting me in all aspects of my life. Besides that, my success is nothing without my family’s support, so I want to shoutout to my family back home!
