Meet Sugich | Singer-Songwriter, Filmmaker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sugich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sugich, what do you want people to remember about you?
I want people to remember me as someone who never hesitated to follow their heart and dreams. This might sound cliché, but growing up, I had people in my life who doubted my dreams, skills, and talents. That never stopped me. I want to inspire others to create, just as I have been inspired by others—to bring their ideas to life and view their artistic passions as a calling, one that can bring peace, happiness, entertainment, or comfort to someone in need.
I want my legacy to be a universe of art that touches souls through music, fashion, film, and audiovisual arts. In this universe, you’ll find stories about people discovering and navigating the world through love—in all its forms. I want people to feel represented in my music and films and to know they are not alone in this journey we all share.
This is a motto I created for myself to keep moving forward, and it is one I aim to pass on through everything I do: Create to live an extraordinary life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is Sugich, and I am a contemporary pop singer-songwriter and audiovisual artist from the desert of Sonora, Mexico. Since 2016, I’ve been performing my melancholic dance pop on various stages. My music is an eclectic fusion of genres, including electro pop, dance, hip-hop, R&B, corridos, and música mexicana, reflecting the rich cultural tapestry of my roots and influences.
I studied Film in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Mexico City, which ignited my passion for visual storytelling. Since then, I’ve been directing and producing my own music videos—something that deeply excites me. In addition to my music, I also work as a Film Director and Scriptwriter, blending my love for both music and cinema into a unique artistic vision.
One of my proudest moments was when Forbes México named one of my releases as one of the best of 2020. Another unforgettable milestone was performing in front of over 15,000 people in my hometown, Hermosillo—a truly surreal experience. I’ve also had the honor of sharing the stage with Latin icons Aterciopelados and collaborating with renowned global brands like Adidas and Converse. As part of Converse’s International Community of Creators, “All Stars,” I connected with a vibrant network of artists who inspire me to push creative boundaries.
In 2024, I made the bold move to Los Angeles to continue pursuing my dream of creating music that excites me, inspires connection, and gets people dancing while reflecting on their own relationships. LA and its dynamic energy have fueled my creativity, and I’m eager to collaborate with other artists to craft innovative projects for people to enjoy.
Connecting with my listeners is one of the most rewarding aspects of my journey. When I see people resonating with my music, it’s a reminder of our shared experiences—proof that, no matter where we come from, we all go through similar challenges and emotions. That connection makes me feel close to them, even if we’ve never met.
The past eight years haven’t been easy. Being an independent artist is incredibly challenging, and it can take a toll on your mental health. This past year, in particular, was one of my toughest, as I struggled to stay healthy and optimistic. But through it all, I’ve found a sense of happiness and purpose that drives me to keep going, even when the path feels steep.
I started releasing music with little more than my own determination. I didn’t know anything about the industry, and I had no one guiding me. But that didn’t stop me. I’ve learned that you can’t wait for opportunities to come to you; you have to create them yourself. I want to inspire others through my music to be fearless, take control of their stories, and chase their dreams unapologetically.
When people hear my music or watch my videos, I want them to feel energized, connected, and inspired. My goal is to craft experiences that stay with them—something they can carry with them, whether it’s on the dance floor or in the quiet moments of reflection.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When someone is visiting, I always take them to watch the sunset at Griffith Observatory. It’s such a special place to me. Once, I was struggling to write the lyrics to my song Nowhere Fast, and I found myself sitting alone at the cafeteria outside, with the sunset in front of me. I promised myself I wouldn’t leave until the song was finished, and, as if by magic, the words came to me so swiftly. That moment sealed my connection to the observatory—it’s a place that truly inspires me.
I’m also a big fan of the Los Feliz Theater and the surrounding area. I’d take my best friend there to catch a film (their popcorn and soda are amazing, and you get free refills!), then head over to House of Pies for a slice of pie, and maybe finish the night at a local bar.
This is one of my favorite spots in LA—a cool mix of nostalgia and creativity.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate a shoutout to my parents. They have supported me since day one—from putting me through piano lessons when I was a kid, to attending every show. Also, my brothers and sisters, who paid for my first music production as a gift to kick off my career. I have been blessed to be supported by friends and my boyfriend, who have helped me bring my ideas to life, as well as by collaborators who believe in my vision and help me accomplish it. You all know who you are.
A special mention goes to Esli Sugich, who helped me develop my music career when I first arrived in LA.
And, of course, to the people who listen to my music and watch my videos—your connection means everything to me, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Thank you all.
