We had the good fortune of connecting with Sukantti (Stephania Sanquiz) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sukantti, why did you pursue a creative career?
Because I always had a need for self expression and also a need to bring love and feelings into people’s lives.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I went to study musical theater and acting for film in a conservatory in New York Film Academy and since then I started my journey in US as an artist. In my country Venezuela I was working in the main tv channel RCTV but the government closed the channel because they were exposing the news about what was happening in Venezuela with the dictatorship. So that’s when I decided to go to New York.
Then I moved to Los Angeles and started to promote my music independently and auditioning for film and commercials.
Nowadays with the uncertainty of the writers/actors strike in Hollywood I continued to work in my craft and I love to put my stories and music on my Instagram and expose my work.
You can not control as an artist what happens in the collective but you can control what you do with your own life and how do you want to live it as an artist. Being an artist is beyond what we can accumulate.
When it haven’t been easy in my career I’ve used the tools I’ve learnt of yoga, breath work and meditation and even with those tools sometimes it has been challenging. But I come from a family of strong values and good habits. My mother was widow and she endured many challenges but she always taught us habits of exercise, eating healthy, reading books and having present God in our lives. So what you learn at home is basically what you will have with you for the rest of your life.
I’m focused now on finding the right agent for me for tv and film and I’m working with a music producer to release new hit records. I signed a non disclosure agreement so I can’t talk much about it.
I’m also teaching yoga, if you want to take my private classes you can request it through my Instagram.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a dear friend is visiting Los Angeles I would take him/her to watch the sunset in Griffith observatory, to eat in vegan glory and spend a day in Zuma beach at Malibu.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother Gabriela Donelli. She passed away last November. She was the strongest woman I’ve ever seen. Raised 2 daughters by herself, widowed. Business woman, former dancer. I wouldn’t be here today if it wouldn’t been for her.
