Meet Susanne Puerschel | Co-Founder/ CEO R.I.S.E.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Susanne Puerschel and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Susanne, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Let me start with that it really has taken me a long time to become a business owner. Not because I did not want to or I was questioning whether it is for me or not. I didn’t jump earlier because I though I wasn’t ready. I didn’t start because I believed friends that told me ” don’t do it, it’s to risky” more than I trusted my gut. Only when I had worked myself into a corner of complete burnout ( again) did I find courage to jump, because rock bottom was right there, I had nothing left to loose. And I knew I wanted different. Different for me, for my children. Different for the community of artists that is so very dear to me.
I realized that we- as a society- make such a huge deal around the possibility of failure when starting and running your own business. The truth is, my truth is, you always have multiple choices in life. If you carry the believe that true financial security can only come from a JOB you go to 5 days a week, than that is what you do. If you are like me and are more in need of leading change, freedom and creativity in order to find fulfillment, than being in charge of your own adventure is where I encourage you to pivot to. Failure is put on this immense judgement pedestal. But believe me when I say… failure is not the end. It’s the beginning. We don’t learn unless we fail. Great inventions weren’t just born. No. The creators often went through all the obstacles imaginable to make it work. The only failure there is , is not to start!
I have started several businesses over the past 8 years and the thought behind it is always the same. How can I create something for the world that will make a difference? How can I help others to reach their potential ? How can I invent something that can disrupt and exciting market kindly, yet impactfully?
For so many years I had followed others. I had allowed industries and even society to put me in tiny boxes that I quickly outgrew, yet tried to fit myself into to gain validation and self worth. And I learned that I only can make myself fit for a limited time. Today I don’t try to fit into anything anymore. I create where I see opportunity.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
As the founder of R.I.S.E., a revolutionary company shaking up the performing arts and event ticketing industry, I have a unique perspective on the struggles facing artists and creatives. As a woman who has both performed and led on the other side of the stage, I have long been perplexed by the financial struggles of those in the industry, despite its immense profitability.
As a society, we often underestimate the power and importance of the arts in fostering a healthy and well-rounded community. Art is an investible product, and it is crucial that it remains accessible to all without devaluing its worth.
I am passionate about supporting those who have the courage to pursue their artistic passions, regardless of the potential consequences. With R.I.S.E., my goal is to empower artists and eliminate the phrase “struggling artist” in favor of “thriving artist.” By providing a platform for artists to monetize their work, we can reallocate resources and support the arts in a sustainable way.
Building a successful business requires not only understanding the market and audience, but also understanding oneself. It is crucial to examine personal patterns, limiting beliefs, and triggers in order to overcome obstacles and achieve success.
One of the most valuable lessons I have learned is that limiting beliefs cannot be outmuscled. In order to expand capacity and build a successful business, one must confront fears and make daily decisions towards their goals.
I believe that each of us has a special gift and a unique impact to make on the world. To be a leader in any capacity, it is essential to allow more than we judge, question more than we comply, and to lead by example in our own lives.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend is from Berlin, so she’d be pretty tired after a 10 hour flight. First I would take her to The Kindness Cafe on Montana Ave and we would indulge in Avocado toast and the best coffee in the world. And since Santa Monica is my favorite part of LA, we’d be walking through the streets North of Montana, look at houses, strike up conversations with locals and stop at Margo’s for some plant based food. I’d take her to Venice Beach and go for long walks, taking in LA’s culture, eat at Cafe Gratitude and Erewhon and shop on Abbot Kinney Blvd.
We would spent a day in Laguna Beach and take the boat over to Catalina Island.
Since we both love nature so much , I would take her on several hikes like to the many trails the Santa Monica Mountains offer.
We’d be visiting the Santa Monica farmers market and buy all the fresh oranges we could.
The Griffith Observatory and it’s hiking trail are obviously on the entertainment list as well.
A day of relaxing and pampering at Willow Spa and a fantastic SUP session watching dolphins are an absolute must.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people that deserve recognition. My three boys and my husband/super- dad that encourage and enable me to always think and act bigger than I think I can.
My darling sister, who would give me her life if it was required.
My Co-Founder who has this incredible gift to push me consistently outside of my zone of familiarity and makes the impossible seem like the next logical step
The Ziva Women- Dr. Kinga Mnich, Elizabeth Lucas- Averett, Jennifer Warren and Corene Phelps
And my dear friend Marcia who always has love in her heart for whatever I am up to.
The book “The Big Leap” by Gay Hendricks
And last but not least- Lori and Chris Harder who were my very first mentors. They did not care where I was, they did not judge, they only saw my potential to what I could achieve. Both of their podcasts are my jam.
