Meet Suzy Espinoza | Traveling Hairstylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzy Espinoza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Suzy, how do you think about risk?
“The biggest risk, is not taking one” I strongly believe this. I moved across the country at 22, broke, with no family members and didn’t know a single person in this city. I didn’t even really know anything about Vegas, except for the fact that it’s near California and that it’s known for its partying.
I grew up in a small suburban town and would always say that I couldn’t wait for the chance to move away. & that the first chance I get to do so, I’m leaving.
And so I did. Vegas was my first chance.
A lot of my friends and family called me crazy or brave and asked why I would do this when things were just getting “good” for me back home. (Jersey) but I remember hearing a quote about taking risks, & how we lose more by not taking it. And I just did it. Sometimes you just have to pray and jump into the decisions you’re making and trust you’re making the right ones.
You also can’t just give up when things get hard- because they will get hard. You just have to push through it.
Moving across the country was probably one of my biggest risks and I’m SOOO SOOO happy I did it. It’s all so worth it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My work is something I’m very passionate about. I’ve always had a love for styling hair- but it’s so much more then that for me. It’s about the person in my chair, & how I have the power to truly allow them to leave feeling so much better then when they first sat in my chair. I truly believe this is why I have many repeating clients, both local, out of state and international who always come back to me when they’re in town.
I really like to pay attention to the details of the styles I create and I strive to always give my clients an amazing experience and time with me!
I’m super excited for the future! I’m planning & working on ways to expand my business and I can’t wait to share it with everyone!
Was it easy? Nothing worth while is ever truly easy. I had so many struggles when I first started becoming a freelance stylist. The biggest one was probably worrying that I wouldn’t have enough clientele. But I learned that you just have to keep going. To be relentless in the pursuit of what you’re believing for yourself. & to truly get yourself out of your comfort zone to grow yourself and your business.
I want everyone to know that an appointment with me isn’t just about beautiful hair- but about having a beautiful experience. I’ve worked on thousands of different personalities through out my career, and I can proudly say Ive learned how to work with so many different personalities. I truly enjoy getting to know and learn from so many amazing & different walks from life!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
As a local, I try to avoid the strip at all costs now. But when I first moved here- I basically lived on the strip. However Vegas has SO many amazing spots to hang out in! The Cosmopolitan is probably my favorite hotel. Their chandelier bar is stunning and they’ve got quite a few fun secret bars/lounges that are super fun! I also love it when they have movie nights at the pool in the summer, or when they turn it into an ice skating rink in the winter! The bellagio garden and water show is a MUST see!
I love discovering secret bars / speakeasies. There’s so many in this city! Downtown is always fun as well!
& I love going to eat at Tívoli village!
There’s so many amazing fun places to eat in this city!
But to be completely honest- I love to go into the mountains! Red rock is absolutely beautiful & i love to go there and escape for a little every now and then! A friend showed me a really cool spot on a mountain in the southwest side of town, where we were able to see the entire city! We would build a fire, bring some chairs and just chill and have a drink while taking in the beautiful skyline. Truly breathtaking!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many people! Starting with my family, my parents, my grandma, my brother & even extended family! I’m super blessed to have their love and support. I met some amazing mentors when I moved out here who really shaped me into a great mindset as well! I had the desire to grow & they pushed that desire in the right direction. But above all, it’ll have to be my mom. Since I could remember she has always encouraged me to follow my dreams, and let me believe I could really accomplish everything and anything with God by my side. And because of her love and support I know I’ve become who I am today.
