We had the good fortune of connecting with Suzy Gruzen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Suzy, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

For many, many years I worked a 9 to 5 job as a paralegal. I felt stifled and very unhappy and I knew I needed to change directions. I wanted a career where I had more freedom and where I could help people with their struggles.

Several years later in or about 1985 I became curious about spiritual teachings—why are we here, is there more to life and why is it that I knew certain things without being taught about them. How is that possible? Around that time, I started having memories of a past life as a crystal therapist in ancient Egypt and several years later I met a Certified Trans-Crystal Therapist and Shaman who was a dear friend of an old boyfriend.  She had her own healing practice and taught crystal therapy.  We would have many conversations about healing, spirituality and life in general.  She encouraged me to learn this esoteric art form and she certified me as a Crystal Practitioner.  I loved the healing arts so much and how the use of energy/life force can heal the body that I also became a Reiki Master.

Starting and building an alternative healing business in 1985 was not easy, but I loved the work and I saw how it helped me personally and how it was helping other people to heal from their dis-ease, whether physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.

What should our readers know about your business?

I am the owner of the Vibrational Healing Therapies Place in Sherman Oaks, California. I have been a Certified Crystal Practitioner and Reiki Master in the Los Angeles area for over 25 years. I am also a Certified Associate Pranic Healer.  In addition to these alternative healing modalities, I use Sound Therapy and Aromatherapy in my healing sessions. These alternative therapies help to assist the body’s innate ability to heal itself and restore it back to balance. I also conduct a Free Pranic Healing Intro Class and Meditation For Stress Release and Emotional Healing on Monday nights on Zoom at 7:00 p.m. PST.  I have conducted in-person workshops, (prior to COVID) with other healers where my topic was relationship healing and how Pranic healing can be used to enrich and strengthen our relationships. In my private practice I specialize in anxiety and stress reduction, insomnia, fears and phobias, eating disorders and body dysmorphia disease, release of negative thinking patterns and relationship healing in addition to digestive issues and migraines.
All of these healing modalities address physical ailments, emotional pain and trauma, mental disturbances and spiritual disconnection.

Healing can be done in person or remotely. Everything is made up of energy. Everything, including our emotions and thoughts. Remote healings use energy, life force, also known as prana, that can take place across any distance that is sent to a recipient since energy can be sent through thought, emotion and intention. The healing energy directed has intentions to heal so it positively affects the recipient. Our physical bodies have an invisible energy field that surrounds it. This energy field, also known as the aura, is an exact blueprint of the physical body. Whatever happens in the aura happens in the physical body. When I work remotely I am actually working on changing the energy in the aura that will affect the physical body, and our emotions and thoughts to be more positive. I have successfully done Pranic Healing sessions with clients all over the world remotely, and since COVID, this has been the way I have been helping people to heal.

Illness starts on the emotional and mental level. Our negative thoughts and negative emotions affect the physical body. You’ve all heard of the body-mind connection. It has been scientifically proven that negative emotions and negative thoughts affect our energy centers and our physical bodies. Our limiting beliefs about ourselves also affect us.

The road has not exactly been a smooth one. When I started to learn about these esoteric studies in the mid to late 1980’s it was not widely accepted that these modalities can actually assist the body in healing itself. Crystals and the use of “energy” were looked upon as woo-woo and airy-fairy. It was hard to persuade people that healing can be achieved this way. Taking medication was easier to do even with all the side effects. I knew that eventually people would start to turn to alternative methods of healing. I also had the evidence of my teachers’ successful businesses that kept me going and to not give up. Now Reiki is used in hospitals and clinics as a recognized form of healing.

I believe what sets me apart from other healers is that I provide a total care experience which includes the healing session in addition to a level of personal care that many businesses who provide healing services do not offer such as: 1) personal intake session either in my office or by Zoom that creates a foundational relationship between myself and reviewing the intake forms that I have my clients complete. We then discuss a game plan for healing; which modalities to be used, how many sessions, etc.
2) post-session—a no-charge follow-up call the next day;
3) I also make myself available in-between sessions to answer questions or if an emergency mini-session is needed because sometimes a client is purging the dirty energy and they need a 15 minute follow up session, also at no charge.

What I am most proud of is being able to see my clients’ health return to wellness. To be able to hear a client say that they’ve overcome a certain issue or ailment and to watch the transformation before my eyes is most rewarding. After all, I did go into the healing business because I do love the work, but also to help facilitate people’s healing.

I see myself continuing to affect change in the quality of my clients’ lives by empowering them through the use of these techniques and by teaching them that we are not our thoughts and emotions and that we can learn to detach from the negative emotions and thoughts and create a fulfilling life. Our negative thoughts and emotions are what holds us back from becoming who we truly are and the best version of ourselves. I also see myself continuing to spread and teach the techniques of Pranic Healing so that each one of us can take control of our own lives to be happy and healthy.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beaches in California are beautiful, Santa Monica Beach, Malibu. A drive up the coast is A Must! I love going to a great restaurant! My favorites are BOA on Sunset (great vibe) or Spago (who doesn’t like a Wolfgang Puck restaurant). I would definitely take her to these restaurants, plus the French-inspired Boucherie in downtown L.A.  A favorite pastime of mine is going to concerts either at the Hollywood Bowl, The Greek Theater or The L.A .Forum. I sure do miss going to shows since COVID. There was a time when I would go to concerts twice a month. Next, heading north towards Paso Robles and spending a weekend there to enjoy the scenery and great wineries. Two wineries that are fabulous are Justin Winery and Daou Vineyards. Finally, I would take her up Highway 1 and go to Carmel, San Francisco and Napa. Hmmm, I guess she’ll just have to stay more than a week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Patricia “Asheme” Bankins who was my Reiki and crystal teacher/mentor; Ellen Morano, my first Pranic Healing teacher, mentor and friend; Master Stephen Co., a direct disciple of Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui, the modern founder of Pranic Healing, By taking advanced Pranic Healing classes, I’ve become an Certified Associate Pranic Healer through the U.S. Pranic Healing Center, which was started by Master Stephen Co.  I have such great love and respect for all my teachers.
