We had the good fortune of connecting with Sydney Tripoli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sydney, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I don’t think I could narrow it down to one single thing other than just keeping my drive. Every single day is such a journey as an artist and making sure that you continually are working on your craft and putting yourself out there is all important! The people in your life is also crucial to your success, so make sure the people you surround yourself with are lifting you up to be the best version of yourself!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a mix of psychedelic and retro style. I think the biggest thing that is distinctive of my art is my desire to capture the past in a way that is modern and unique. And of course, I love color so much! You will see that very prominently in my art! The place I am today is definitely a stepping stone to where I see myself in the future. I don’t think there is ever a final destination, there is always growth and progress to be made. I say that with so much joy, because art is such an expressive and beautiful thing.
I definitely struggle with comparing myself to other creators who can just continually pump out amazing and incredible art, and I work on that by acknowledging my own talent and understanding why my art is just as important.
I think that bringing the 60s and 70s back to life means so much to me because it was such a pivotal moment in self expression, art, music and the freedom of the soul. I don’t like this cookie cutter perfect way of being a photographer and what my photographs are supposed to look like. I want more color, I want more life! I want to capture that spirit in a modern way through the energy of who I’m photographing!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am based in Long Beach, California, so naturally we would start with a down PCH with the windows down and feel the cool breeze in our hair! I’d take them to my favorite plant-based restaurants in Long Beach and Los Angeles, because wow! The food here will blow your socks off! After that probably take a stroll down the infamous Retro Row on 4th Street in Long Beach and find some incredible vintage pieces. Maybe end the day with the sunset over Signal Hill’s Hilltop Park. There is so many things to do in Southern California, the list is endless!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My loved ones are so supportive in my life in every single thing I do! I feel so blessed that I’ve had such a strong support group who really believe in me and my business.
