We had the good fortune of connecting with Tabitha Edmonds and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tabitha, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Well, I do many things now. It all started with modeling, I posted a photo of my Halloween costume in 2016 that went viral. It was literally a Rihanna look that shook the Internet ha ha. From there so many people suggested that I should get into modeling, so it started more as something to do for fun. Though through research modeling quickly turned into a passion and I knew it was something that I wanted to pursue deeply. I would do so many test shoots back at home in Cleveland, Ohio and even took the mega bus to New York for castings. Just those few visits to New York I fell in love with the city and knew I had to be there. I dropped out of college, worked a few here and jobs until I started bartending and that’s when I saved up for about six months and moved to New York. Though when I got there I fell in love with so much more than modeling and the rest is history basically.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
That’s a great question. As of late all of my time goes to my profession. I was recently signed with State Management so modeling has expanded it from here and there test shoots and collaborations with friends to booking actual clients i’m not quite working as much as I would like to but it’s on the way. Then i’ve gotten myself into a lot of photo editing, creative direction and photography gigs. I would say that editing has been the most fun just because I learn so much every time I open my laptop iPad or even my phone because that’s where the editing started. The creative direction takes a bit of time you know trying to build a team or even being a one woman show but when it’s all said and done everything always comes out so beautiful. It’s like wow I did that, I can actually do this, and I wonder what I’ll do next. And then photo is more of me perfecting my craft I only shoot film currently with my Mamyia 6. Of course let me not forget I do design merch and that is basically every bit of my creative direction photo and editing put together along with help from my amazing friends and assistants. You got to check it out it’s all on my Instagram!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Okay since I’ve moved to LA I’ve become a huge homebody. But for my bestie I’ll go outside. First we have to eat and my gurls like fancy things so I’m thinking ocean prime.. the next day we’re definitely hiking in Malibu somewhere near the water so we get all the scenery! I love museums and since LA is a major hub I know that there will be some traveling exhibit like Pink Floyd or maybe Picasso so we would definitely do that. Working out is a must so probably another hike, hit in my gym at the apartment, definitely a backyard bowls trip… Wow this is kind of hard because again I’m a homebody ha ha though we do like to club so Shabba is a must definitely got to get drunk definitely have to get cute and definitely have to bring them on some kind of set with me so they can see how I live when they are not here.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shout out my friends and family for keeping me going. I have a very solid foundation within my friendships and they are the only reason I’m still here and doing what I do. There have been so many times when I wanted to just quit and give up and they wouldn’t let me. They guided me through so many battles mentally, physically, financially, and spiritually. I love them so very much, and I do this all for them so I can repay them as much as I can. Thank you Rich, Tati, Kelia, Sean, Brandon, Tammy, Shadaya, Eve, Ronni, Zarria, Sumrr and Chaka!!! I love you all!!! AND SHOUT OUT TO MY ROCK, MY BEAUTIFUL MOTHER TRACY!
