We had the good fortune of connecting with Taline Postajian and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Taline, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
One of my favorite finance professors would always say “No guts, no glory” and the older I get the more I realize how true this is, not just in finance but in everything we do. It takes guts to go after what you want. To pursue something you came up with in your head and turn it into reality, not knowing what the outcome will be. To start that business, or new job. You have to take risks or be okay with staying stuck where you are. This doesn’t mean take unnecessary risks or to invest in risky projects. It means dare to succeed. The reason I (and many others I suspect) sometimes find myself shying away from taking risks is of course the fear of failing and wasting time and resources. That risk will always be present, but you have to dare to succeed. Starting In the Posts at the beginning of COVID was a risk. But it was one I felt I had to take and taking it not only allowed me to work with some incredible clients all over the world, but it also granted me a segway into the beauty industry as a full time social media and PR manager.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My career really began in 2017. I had just shut the door on a 2-year entrepreneurial venture- a women’s clothing site called Appliqué. Just as I thought one door was closing, another door opened when I was hired as an intern at The Residency Experience, one of the top PR showrooms in LA. Within 2 years, I worked my way up to PR Director and decided it was time to pursue an MBA. Although I loved my job, I left The Residency Experience to find a more flexible role while I pursued my degree. And by this point we now have COVID in the mix. It was during this time where daily social media usage was increasing for both personal and business use. Brands needed to get creative on social if they wanted to survive. I had some experience curating my own socials and The Residency’s Instagram. This is how In the Posts was born. In the Posts (a play on words and my last name) offers consulting to entrepreneurs and brands who are looking to uplevel their business through social media branding and management. My studio takes a minimalistic and artistic approach. I believe in simplicity when it comes to branding. I created our Instagram page and began posting aesthetic images of flatlays and photos I had taken and discussing services offered. Before I knew it I had signed five clients in the first few months which only continued to grow. I’ve gotten to work with some really incredible brands all over the U.S. and even in London. In the Posts became my full time gig throughout the pandemic. That is, until last July where I began my role at Aii Beauty, an umbrella company to over 50 brands including Ardell, Salon Perfect, and Hollywood Fashion Secrets. Although I do work full time, In the Posts is very much still active and taking clients. Something I’m most proud of is my resilience and the journey that has gotten me to where I am now. If you told me at my undergrad graduation that in 5 years, I’d be graduating from Pepperdine business school, in a long distance relationship engaged to the most incredible man I know, and working full time with a side hustle, I would laugh and probably not believe you. Juggling clients, a full time job, grad school, and wedding planning has definitely not been easy, but I take it a day at a time and remind myself that I am exactly where I need to be. I’m proud of where I am while also realizing that I’m just getting started and there is so much more I want to accomplish. I want people to know that if you’re unhappy with where you are in school, a relationship, your career, or just in life, it is never ever too late to change. And don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Take advantage of your agency. You get to choose the kind of life you want to live and the way you show up every day. Choose the people you surround yourself with wisely and follow your own journey. What’s meant for you will never miss you.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Erewhon and Chill: During lockdown, a friend and I would grab food from Erewhon and go down to the Silverlake reservoir with a blanket to eat, catch up, and people-watch. If the weather was nice I would definitely take my out of town bestie to do the same.

Farfalla & Jeni’s Ice Cream: I compare every Italian place to Farfalla. It’s my go-to Sunday dinner spot, to the point where they no longer give us a menu. And Jeni’s is right around the corner and is a must.

Staycation at Beverly Hills Hotel: Brunch, pool, drinks, spa.

Other places I’m loving: Mother Wolf, EMC Seafood, La La Land Kind Cafe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My sister, Jacqueline. She’s always been so unafraid to go after the things she wants in both life and her career that its inspired me, even as her older sister. She keeps me grounded and always pushes me to be the best version of myself. Jacqueline works in film and recently wrote and directed her first short film called Lazy People and is currently the co-host of a really cool podcast called Scene and Heard. If you’re into films, definitely check it out.
