Meet Tami Bahat | Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tami Bahat and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Tami, what role has risk played in your life or career?
To me, risk-taking is everything. If you’re at a point where nothing scares you or you have no doubts about how something might turn out, you’re possibly not pushing outside of your comfort zone enough. The things I’ve been most scared to try have turned out to be the most rewarding experiences of my life by far, and pushed me in so many ways as a human being and in my career. Sometimes it feels so foreign and uncertain in that uncharted territory but if you push through that feeling, it’s all worthwhile.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I strive to create art that connects the viewer to humanity, a feeling of understanding without the use of words. I’m most proud of presenting work that I’m extremely passionate about. We are all unique. Sharing our personal voice and point of view is the greatest gift. It’s not an easy road, but one that’s absolutely worth it. I think meeting people in person is vital, whether it’s a gallery owner or potential buyer. You get the opportunity to connect on an even deeper level and show them who you are as a person. I feel extremely fortunate to have the support of many truly great people who have guided and supported me in a multitude of ways. I always say that it’s so important to find your community. I’ve learned that you can be a perfectionist so long as it doesn’t stop you from creating your work and putting it out into the world! I want people to know that it’s important to me to make art. I value artists and their fortitude to share their souls with the world. It takes guts but it’s one of the most valuable things you can do. Share your story and keep connecting people to others and parts of themselves they don’t necessarily think about every single day.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would definitely go to Malibu, see some shows around town, visit the Brand Library, Griffith Park and meet up with various friends to make the experience a richer one.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My incredible friend and exceptionally talented photographer Aline Smithson is a godsend to the photographic community here in Los Angeles. I was lucky enough to study with her years ago when I was starting out and she gave me a deeper understanding of the world of fine art photography. Through her, I have also been able to connect to so many incredibly talented photographers who have become my support system. She has done so much for everyone to thrive and feel supported.
